Guild Wars 2 Inspiration
Redfeather1975
I can't wait for GW2 to come out, but I wanted to share some pictures from another game and hope that the art team can get some inspiration for GW2.
Here is a game called Granado Espada, which has some very cool Baroque style art. I think it fits nicely with the timeframe of GW2 taking place hundreds of years in the future. Also I find the clothing in the game very cool. I hope if there are mesmers in GW2 that some of these clothes can inspire some mesmer clothing!

I don't know much about the game, except that there will be an english version.
I just stumbled across it today and thought that the clothing and cities were so beautiful that a GW game with some areas and clothes similar to them would be amazing!

I got a closed beta invite for the game, but didn't use it. The point, though, is that Guild Wars is its own game and should in no way use another game's idea imho

I've played the Beta version. It has a good feel, but has a lot of work to do already.
The system is based on 'shared instances', that is, up to X players can enter an instance without being in the same squad (party), once there are too many, you have to change to another channel (district).
The world is not continuos, but made of different maps loaded individuall, much like GW or RO.
The game environment is inspired in colonial Europe, each class has an own accent: Fighter>Portuguese, Scout>English, Musketeer>Italian, Mage>Spanish, Elementalist>German.
The buildings and clothing are a mix of Victorian, Baroque and other styles of the 14th..16th... centuries.
The graphics are so neat that you can even see the scales, each single scale, on a crocodile hide.
You can go with 3 own characters at the same time, much like if you could use two of your characters as heroes, but being able to switch the control to any of them.
Each class has an unique skill that is always present on their skill bar.
There are some ideas that could be used in a GW2, but it's better to make a game on scratch, based on suggestions to GW1, without looking a other games.

I was only thinking about how GW2 could use some of the clothing and architecture styles similar to that which are found in that game. It's not about copying the game itself, but also looking at the inspiration the game is using for it's artwork. Mithran pointed out is 14th, 16th century.
I think GW2 could have some cool buildings and clothing choices if some of that era is used as inspiration.

A gun is in the second picture, that would depict it's in the 1700-1800s, not exactly a place for swords and bows. Therefore the clothing is in the "future".
"Granado Espada, produced by Hak Kyu Kim known as the 'Creator of RAGNAROK', published by HanbitSoft, is an unique MMORPG containing "multi character control system (MCC)" based on 17th century of Europe."

Also, the armor would have to be significantly changed from that game to avoid Copyright issues.
But you said it was inspiration... So it could maybe work...

I agree it's very pretty. Nothing wrong with a bit of inspiration at all ^^
