GW:EN portals already in place?
Kook~NBK~
I was doing an IDS run with some allies last night and the thought struck me that the orbs by the statue in the ice imp cave could be used as portals to the underground areas that will be opened up in GW:EN. Any thoughts?
Corpselooter
Wizard's tower, anyone?

I was thinking the same thing with the "lit up, cracked doorways" in vabbi...like the Do Not Touch in the Forum Highlands, I'm sure there is one just like it in the Holding of Chokhin with no current use...

Never struck me. Perhaps that thing is something from the Asura? it would be interesting to finally get it explained.
storm of daeth
trippy i saw that once but just blew it off as a knocked over torch with magical blue fire like the IDS lol.
Tide to Go
i hated that think, it dident rez u and it had a horrible noise......dident think much of it, but since it isent used for anything, the future could have been there the whole time.
anubis_master

EotN seems lie Anets way to send off the current Tyria before GW2. That thing deserves a explanation!

Then there's those door way looking things that go down into the ground in some of ther Desert Outposts. I've always wondered where they go.
keli
we were there, and it's a beacon just like in beacon's perch mission, so this isnt any special..

Another place that entrance to the underground areas in GW:EN is those secret passages that King Ironhammer goes into in the cut-scene in the Iron Mines Mission (I think that's the right mission). I wonder if they play a part in it.

I think the entrances in Tryia will be in the reopened Catacombs of Ascalon, deep in Sorrows Furnace, Possibly in the remains or Orr, and possibly somewhere deep in Magumma jungle all of which are yet to be opened. In Cantha i guess there be one in the Undercity, and one somewhere under the Jade Sea and deep in the Petrified Forest.
Chronos the Defiler
you all forget that right near that very cave is also a Seer, defiant to the unseen, and possible tie-in to another race being there first.

Or you just find a new "crack" in the landscape near Lion's Arch, Kaineng Center, or Kamadan. :P
Calm down now people. (Btw, why do you have phantasm on your bar Kook? I'm a stickler :P)

Obvious problems with that theory:
You only need to own one campaign of Guild Wars to play Eye of the North, what if you own only factions? How would those function as portals if they're in places you can't actually visit?
They could act as alternate entrances or exits to dungeons, but not as the sole point of entry/exit, otherwise you might find that some people couldn't get into/out of them.

well obviously this would only be for that campaign....read back and you notice someone post about the cracked doorways in Vabbi (which is nightfall) which would be the same type of thing, and i am pretty sure there are areas like this in Factions....but i hate exploring Factions and wouldnt be bothered to go look for anything llike that there.
Since you need to own only one campaign it would seem logical to add areas similar to this to each Campaign....or even then you can make areas like the "Grenth's Hall" in the UW which would do the same thing but be a "core" pathway which all 3 campaigns can access (just requires ascention...which according to the info on EotN, would be a good idea since all of the content in EotN is all max level content meant for players that already have GW experience.)

Curious thing is that if you say it was there before Factions or Nightfall came out, that would mean those objects were placed there BEFORE the developers ever thought of making Eye of the North. So there was probably ANOTHER reason they were put there. Whatever that reason was we probably will never know, but yes, I tihnk they will be used in GWEN.

There's some place in The Scar (area in the Crystal Desert), in the South/Western part of the area with two Teleporters but without activators. It should teleport you to some small area with one of those doors Kook~NBK~ mentioned earlier in this thread.=s

I believe there is light in that cave that gleams down onto the Lysse statue. So possibly just Deldrimor Torches that fell during a cave in. And as for what they are doing there? Well if you look at your map The cave lines up with Rin. So possibly it was the marker torches for people traveling from Rin and heading towards ThunderHead Keep or any of the main cities in that area.
So I'll go ahead and answer this question should it arise. Why didn't rurick take the settlers this way? Because he wanted to go to Kryta of course so he wanted to take the most logically direct route.

I was thinking about how the Maps where going to be affected by EotN. If Anet added explorable areas onto the Tryia map it would mess up the cartographer title. Also people who hadnt got Prophecies but have Nf or Factions would have a near blank map. So either EotN is going to have its own map which overlays Tryia (since EotN seems to revolve around tryia) and expands more to the north to fit in the Far Shiverpeaks Or Anet would do the reverse to normal.
They make an underground explorable map ( a map like the normal continent ones but based underground) and areas where u go above ground can either be small adentant maps like RoT or areas above ground could be areas that are only viewable with the U map in the same way underground areas currently are (like the Hidden City etc.) (in essence the map is reversed from the normal Viewable land and unviewable underland to viewable underland and unviewable land.)

In Flame temple Corridor (Tyria), there's a corner with several portals set into the walls. You can't reach them, but they are clearly there.....and surrounded by Charr.
I'm pretty sure that when I first started playing GW just over a year ago, the rock in Sardelac Sanitarium covered the entrance to the catacombs. Last week I visited there again as part of the HM update, and I could see behind the rock, seeing stairs and stuff like that which I don't think were there before (in post.....obviously they are there in pre). Was this changed recently?

That has been there for ever.
