Apparently the Free Treasure Chests have refilled, according to GWO. I did find a Sapphire and 2k outside Kodash Bazarr...so I guess it's true.

from what i can tell its approx. every 31 days they reset per toon the last time that particular toon opened it.
however the first time i open these chests with 8 of my pve toons i got all golds, the second time with all 8 i got 40% of the drops as purples, this last time around i got even fewer gold drops from them. maybe its just my luck went down hill in a hurry or it may be based on how often u open them versus the quality of drop?

wiki mention that the chests reset based on your character, but it's unknown what the criteria for them resetting is.

5 Chars finished NF. Did the run 4 times with all 5 untill now for last time.
3 Times all gold and lots of plats. 2 Last times = alsmot half pats rewards and 75% to 90% Gold. Only had golds on the Kamadan territory, dont recall exact name of region, make this Noob island.
So no more of these stupid chest 4 me.

ok please help and do not missinformed here. This post dosent care about average possibility or grinding same chest with 200 chars you have.
Need to crack the code with real average. So please, fallow the idea.
1 - Get all chest at once..it take about 2h for a new commer, 45 min for me.
2 - Repeat step 1 with all chars who have finish NF so you can get all 12 the same day or so.
3 - Repeat step 2 every 4-5 weeks to check if they are available yet again.
4 - Post reply of real attempts like I do.
So I repeat.....did all 12 at once, 4 times at least with at least 4 chars.

Yesteday..90% Barneys or so and half Plats amount mean DOA chest game me 1k ish instead of 2k ish.

I seem to always get Boar Scepters, normally Req 13, and energy storage based. As for the reset i dont think 31 days is right, since i last opened my chests on the 22 of February and i checked them a couple of days ago and they still didn't release anything.

My ele who opened them in January STILL can't open them. My Dervish who opened them about this time last month can open them again no bother. Maybe it's all pary of "the game".

I was grinding the same chest because:
A) Fastest one to get to
B) requires no conflicts whatsoever.
Some of us don't have a lot of free time to go after all 12. I was able to hit the one chest 10 times in 15 minutes.

My paragon managed to open all her chests for the fourth time now. My Warrior, second time. I haven't tried a chest on either of these toons for about a month
None of my 5 other toons can open. But I'm only trying one chest and swapping out. I can't be bothered spending all day testing chests.

I was able to open the first two chests again with four of my characters (thats as far in the game as i've taken them) but with my two main characters who have finished the game, none of the chests will open. Fooey.

2nd attempt has been all sucky drops, but all gold till now.
Well, one had a +30 hp spear head, so that was nice.
Also, I got 2 barbed axes one after another from the chests and both sucked.
Hopefully I will have better luck with the remaining Treasure today.

In the past, the chests have reset with major updates. Like Wintersday.
I've opened them 3 times so far with 3 of my character and my fourth character for the first time yesterday. I'll log in later to see if they have unlocked for me for a fourth time.

I usually check the chests (Istan/Kourna) every couple of weeks and I haven't had a reset on any of them with my warrior (no second drops -- Always "Empty" or "Found Nothing"). I think the first time I opened any of them was around January 20, so some should have reset a few times now. Am I reseting the clock by checking on these and should I just leave them alone for a month, or am I just screwed?

I think it's best to leave them alone for a month, even if you test it with just one or two toons. I know for a fact that my toons that couldn't open them today have all had a fiddle within the last month. The two who haven't both got goodies.

I haven't written down exact stats, but from what i remember::
-They reset PER toon, every 30-31 days.
-After the first time a particular toon has opened a chest, the chances of getting a purple or lower rewards exponentially increases.
-1st Run:: Overall averages with ALL 6 toons got ALL high end drops/gold items their first run through (all freebie chests in one session).
-2nd Run:: Overall averages of ALL 6 toons, did net lower drop value (cash+non-weapons), as well as about 40% or less items being purple.
-3rd Run:: Overall averages of ALL 6 toons, did net much lower drop values, and amount of purple drops ended up outnumbering gold drops to about +60% purples.
So yes, the more each toon opens a freebie chest, the less value drop they will get. The recharge of each chest is around one month (~30 day period, it seems). Fun easy run to get em all. One of the two in the Realm of Torment i don't get though, cause the run takes too long...

The last time I was able to open any of them was Jan. 20 or a few days after (that was the second time opening). I tried again today with my 3 main characters and none of them can open any for the third time, been almost 3 months...

My main toon opened the chests all on the same day, within a few days of their introduction. She opened them again in januari, after the first reset, which seems to have been a totally global one, for everyone. Again, all on the same day.
Every time when there's this 'the chests have reset!' hype, I try them again. They never work. My other toons share similar stories.
