Well, it's done. BoA is no more.

eh 2 seconds is still possible to get 3 hits of the combo done but u can just use tiger stance or frenzy(if monk p spirit you) or flurry or flail
Destrus The Demonic
People will just use flurry, barely lowers damage and just as effective, this will change nothing.
moko
who cares?
stab stab stab, adren up, spike with flail?
flurry also works seeing how it only reduces the base damage and not the additional damage you do with attack skills, so your losing maybe 20 damage max, along with the black spider nerf, its not much really.
you guys just gotta spike smarter now -- now the gimmick takes at least a BIT more skill to play.
bye bye SpBoa, hey SpFlail -- or SpFlurry..or SpLF..or SpFrenzy.........or SpTG...

:| flail = descreased movement speed, not damage... your thinking of flurry methinks.

I guess this means I no longer have easy kills in RA and AB.
BUT im biased because i never really liked the BoA build to begin with.

I didnt like boa ither but from now on when im gonna play it il use lightning reflexes sure u hav to wait for 1-2 seconds for TF but hey, it gives 75%block ^_^

All i can say is....
Good riddance.
At least till 'Sins find another IAS they can abuse for some retardedly powerful spike that'll get nerfed too.

As I said before, I only use BoA because...well the IAS was just too fun and it's little picture was pretty xD
now I just use my usual builds and...kill sins as usual. Dash or Expose Defenses fits the slot now :O ED is just a cover up, and just helps against those that are blocking. Siphon Speed was always my initiating hex. I did try Flurry for a bit but it just didn't feel the same. i was getting bored with the IAS anyway (i usually ended up being too key happy and hit it too soon)
But yay!

Mesmer in Need
I can see sins getting crafty in the future. using skills like tiger stance, beserkers, tigers fury, flurry, flail, lightning reflexes, ect... Until then im gonna go laugh at sins.

Good riddance to BOA assassins.

Nerfing BoA is meaningless. Just use Lightning Reflexes, Flurry or Tigers Fury... problem solved.
I did a few tests... currently I found the following works best as a replacement for BoA:
- Tiger's Fury - You won't be able to use Shadow or Expose Def once it's used, but it works well.
- Flurry - Best choice - Damage loss isn't that much
- Lightning Reflexes - Speed increase and protection from 70% of attacks. But has a 30 sec recharge time which limits how often you can take advantage of the speed boost.

Flurry. (need_more_words)

What people are missing is the damage reduced nerf to Black Spiders Strike. The nerf to that means often you can't do that last finishing blow to your target. They will be down to 10% health for sure.
But that still means they may be healed.
But that still means they may be healed.
Shuuda
Well, good riddance to bad rubbish, I believe that is the correct saying to use. Yes, smarter people will start using other IASs like flurry etc, but most of the people who played this build where meta game nobodies who will spend too much time crying, they earnt it.

Flail, Tiger Stance, GG

Hmm with the 3 nerfs altogether (black spider strike, BOA and shadow prison) I think it's quite enough now. They can spike less often and they do less damage. Sins should still be fearsome imo, as their only use lies in killing people fast, but they are less devastating then when the build was just invented. I like the idea of toning down instead of nerfing stuff into the grave. aNet's original strategy when it came to balance issues was just taking a sledgehammer and whack skills and builds into the ground. I'm quite glad they chose a more subtle approach.

praise a-net!
being a sin player myself i welcome this change with open spikey arms

since i use moebius anyway, the nerf to the damage of BSS doesn't bother me that much. They're still poisoned for a long time and I'm getting my damage on with TF + MS + CS (or DB) chain. I brought BSS for poison rather than damage XD It just adds to the triple condition effect...or quadruple (with siphon speed)...or quintuple (with siphon speed AND expose defenses)..if that's a word. Firefox isn't underlining it in red so I'm assuming so. Technically the last two are hexes but they're still hindering target's survivability.
Stranger The Ranger
Pah... I couldn't care less about the BoA nerf (copy 'n paste-from-Wiki-builds FTL), but the BSS nerf seems kinda pointless to me ;\

and um aswell
The spike isnt dead cus BSS is weaker
Hoto Falling spider Twisting fangs
if sins are picking off targets instead of running into a aggro of opponents it wont be much of a problem. Sure they loose BoS power but if they really need BoS
Theres,
Mark of instibility.

If you still manage to kill someone with that old combo I applaud you. First of all, HoTo needs a person away from the team, which is getting increasingly rare as people get smarter. Second, no blades of steel means no final spiking damage. Third, TF and falling spider at the end mean no conditions until after the combo is complete, which means you'll be doing a good bit of auto attacking when you finish.

The only good thing about boa sins was the ability to acce ss a lot of pvp teams because it was considered "elite."
With that said, the build was an overrated piece of crap. I laughed at boa sins who thought they were so hot even for when I'd own them like American Idol over Kelly Clarkson's career. (pre-Breakaway album)
So nerfing boa made no difference, but to nerf Shadow Prison was just Arenanet being stupid and spiteful. What's the point of creating the elite skilll when they increased the energy cost from 5 to 10 when there is already Dark Prison? Oh WAIT! The 20 and 45 recharge time diference, big hootin' deal.
The assassin is one of my most, if not thee, most favorite class. There should be no reason for Anet to help enforce the class subject any more class discrimination. We already got nubs that do it for them. Nubs that use them for tanks and thinks that playing the sin makes them think they are ninjas in real life.
Screw boas, but atleast re-buff Shadow Prison.

As an assasin, I have to say good ridance. Was giving us a bad name. Shadow Prison I used to use, but found why AoD was superior (survivabilty chance + 90%). Siphon Speed was always a better hex choice, and there are so many other stances to use it's ridiculous that people cry over this. Oh ya, and a smart assassin should probraly be able to pick someone that the HoTO spike will work on in the first place (Shadow-Steping into a mob, not quite the smartest thing I've ever done). Know what you do, and know what your enemy will do when you do it, that is how you win, no matter what build you use.

I totally disagree with that.
The shock combo wasnt meant to be used everytime it was recharged.
Your supposed to be pressuring monks with disrupting stab and then spike when they are about to heal themselves. It's not a bad build because it was used in GvG gank until SP came along and its still good.
Also you can manage your energy by not using it trigger happy whenever you want to spike.
EDIT: Sorry for the double post i had this page up a while before i decided to post and i saw more people posted afterwards.
