No more Hero Powerleveling(?)

I'm hoping for someone to help verify this, but here goes...

After I went to Kamadan and took the Battle Preperations quest with my Canthan Ranger. After I got my three heros and went back into Kamadan to prepare leveling them, I was a little suprised at this:



As you can see, they were set at one level below me. Koss is no longer level 2 when gained, Dunkoro is no longer level 6 on gain, and I dunno about Melonni, but she's a high-level, too.

How long has this been in effect?

This was done in an update a couple months ago I think.

is this for everyone?
isnt there a difference between characters born in elona
and characters from tyria and cantha? dont they get higher heroes right away?

Characters starting in Elona are obvioulsly low level, and get the heros in order by following the story line. Imports are typically level 20 and get the level 15 heroes so they can use them.

there is also a few more quests for Tyrian/canthan people who come to elona. There will be a quest wher you gain alot of sunspear promotion points.

"Characters that come to Elona from a foreign land now get Heroes that start at level 15, and can play two new quests, Securing Champion's Dawn and A Land of Heroes" December update

Wow...i missed that one. It's a right bugger i'd got all my heroes before this and had to do it the old way.
That also explains why i cant get securing Champions Dawn with my Paragon.

This may be old news, but it has been helpful to me.

Yeah, they also removed the Sunspear rank requirement for non-Elona characters to continue the primary quest after you are at the Sunspear Sanctuary and have rescued Koss. It was way too much grind for non-Elona characters to level all their heroes up from level 3 and to get the title.

Yep, all elona heros are meant to start at level 15 for non-elona characters, but sousuke/jin still start at 11

Weird. But I only got heros from one of my foreign characters so far. I got Koss at level 2 for her!! *lol* It took forever to get everyone to level 20 for Consulate Docks. Generally, I just take each hero out alone and level them that way. Or I would pin the hero just inside my aggro bubble and kill the foe and my hero will still gain the experience w/o battling. I hate rezzing low level characters just so they can die again.

Really annoying. After completing the Nightfall campaign, I was thinking that I will be unlocking Jin as a full-level character already. But she was also at level 11 when I unlocked her. But that's another matter, I guess.

On topic, I never realized that non-Elona characters get their first batch of heroes with low levels before. Good thing I was spared by the grind of levelling them up.
