Buying anything threw the ANet company is safe, BUT if you have malware on your pc such as a keylogger, it is not safe... If you have a keylogger on your pc, it records anything you type, including credit card info etc and sends it to an email of the person. I recommend downloading, and updating Spybot Search & Destroy, and Ad Aware SE Personal. Scan your pc and remove anything it finds, and you should be good to go. Although its still not a gurantee.

The store in itself is safe, what viruses and such you might have on your computer aren't. Basically, in the unlikely event that something wrong (someone get the info you typed in the store) happens the problem has good chances of being on your end.

So if i scan and clean my computer with Spy bot, then it'll be safe?
Or maybe someone could give me other good programm, that is specialy made for keylogers?

Spybot is the best free anti-malware scanning program you will find.

Why do it the hard way? The Official store is pretty much the safest way to go...

Tundra,

Understand something very basic: Unless you've done a lot of downloading (especially Torrents and the like, which may be of... questionable... legality), you're probably not at great risk. On the other hand, if you (or your friend) have engaged in a lot of downloads, there's a chance - a chance, only - that you may have an infected system.

SpyBot, AdAware, and Avast! Antivirus are good tools, with free downloads, and do a very good job of keeping a system clean; I would recommend a Google search for each.

The ONLY "safe" system is one that is totally unplugged from the wall and off. All that we can do as users is take reasonable measures to prevent loss, and the tools above are some of those measures.

Many banks have a limit to liability for customers in the event of credit fraud, so check with your bank to see if you are protected in a similar manner. I believe for US customers, it's over $50 - you pay anything up to that, but beyond that you don't. (It may be different by state.)

Anyway, good luck. The ArenaNet store in GW has been fine for me; no problems.

If it is causing you this much worry, is it not easiest just to go buy the game in a real shop? (Although if you're in the middle of the Gobi Desert then I accept it might be hard)
