Was there ever a time when you were doing a mission and you single handedly defeated the boss/monster to defeat the mission?
I had an experience when i went with a group for the mission to defeat the harbringers(forgot the name) and we were at the the last harbringer. We were halfway until another group of margonites came and started attacking. The mesmers took down my mnoks and killed us of one by one. But they had left me alone with the harbringer and i had its life in my grasp.i had 10 health left until i hit the final blow on it. i had defeated the harbringer single handedly=)9with the help of my teammates in the beginning.

oh yeah I had quite the triumphant one a long time ago
was doing Dragon's Lair bonus with a random pug, and the entire group wiped to Glint except for me, playing Grenths/blood necro. Sure the party took 99% of Glint's life, but I managed to stay alive, fire off a few Grenth's and Vamp Gazes and what not, and dodged enough fireball blasts to finish her off on my own.

Hehe, good topic.
I've had a few memorable ones. Like my Ele single handedly killing two 28elementalists in UW after my party wiped. They had full health, and I was running an air build (read: none farmer build). Had to use shock to interupt their worst spells and heal myself as often as possible. Was able to kill them and get back to where our monk had died (he had been one of the few guys who got MOSTLY away after we realized we had to retreat) and he was able to rebirth the whole party.
Another time all my team died in Unwaking Waters at the end except for myself and the CPUs from the other faction's team while on my w/r (idiot teammates not moving away from or killing the scales). Was able to hold aggro and keep myself alive while the ranger and necro NPCs helped me finish him off.

Ohyeah?
Well my best heroics is from the ra lol , does it count? I enter the battle and got to the fireislands killcount map. All of my team left at the beginnig, so i was alone. Enemy had 3 players. I was playing bloodnecro and i killed them one by one because they scattered and never attacked me sametime. ending numbers where something like 4 vs 1 to my favor. hahhah that made my day.

The only one I remember was in the Moddok Crevice mission. My party managed to bring down The Hunger's health to around the halfway point, unfortunately pretty much the whole group was dead at that point. I hexed it with Spiteful Spirit, Insidious Parasite, Price of Failure, and Spinal Shivers. Then I proceeded to wand it to death.

PUG-ing Hells Precipice is September 2005. I was on my mesmer, running e-surge/burn and some interupts. We get to the Lich, and the party pretty much wipes except for me and a ranger. Rez sigs burnt. I swear I was dodging those 6 of thoses bubbles that transport you into the lava, running around, casting surge and burn everytime they came up. Somehow beat him after 10 minutes. It was great!

Recently beat the Drought in the Rilohn Refuge mission with 6 party members dead and 2 of us left at around 50 HP each but managed to wand the Drought to death since it was nearly there anyway.

We'd gone out capping outside ember light camp - 4 people each with 4-5 cap sigs each and 4 henchies (back in the day when they sucked).
The party wiped after a couple of badly timed patrols and there were 3 fire drakes on my back - after a tenuous struggle the 3 were defeated with a bar that consisted only of putrid explosion and grenth's balance.
Of course, I had replaced my res with a cap sig so I had to kill myself afterwards lol.

I remember doing Dragon's lair on my whammo, first time I ever got there, entire party except for me was wiped, glint at full health, I managed to dodge her fireballs till she for some reason retreated a bit
I ressed someone with rebirth, grabbed an egg, and kept dodging her firebals while the other ressed the entire team. We managed to beat her, and nobody said ty to the poor whammo who dident even have mending

I remember my first run through Arborstone. I was playing my Sword Ranger and was experimenting with a dual riposte build when I went through. I remember at the very end, there was this HUGE Warrior boss. The party all went one way and that boss went STRAIGHT for Danika. So, I stepped in his way all by my lonesome.
Party turns around after a bit. One of them asks "Where's the War boss??"
"I got him, no worries!" *cough* Though, Danika did heal me quite a lot. But it was hilarious to see their collective responses.

This is a pretty intresting topic, my story comes from the first week of playing guild wars with my friend and we did the rankor mission or whatever it was that you used catapults on.
Well both of us had just moved on from a really bland kind of game and we thought the catapult was pretty cool so he wanted me to fire it at him lol, well he was the leader and he forgot he had the henchies control so when i fired they all died with him. I had already used my res sig and was on my own from then on fighting the hordes of char with only a lv 10 wammo and finally without knowing i killed the last boss to end the mission in succes.
We were both laughing the entire time about and even up untill now.

I had a group at Abbadons Mouth. 8 players to start. Both Warriors and a monk rage quitted. So, myself (Motivation Paragon), 2 necros (1 not infused), an ele, a ranger. Not only did we finish, we got the Bonus. This was post motivation nerf (less health on Restoration chants).

There was a time when I played RA. The team was like: Ranger (me), Monk, Elemetalist and Warrior. We win the 1st match, Warrior quits and we get an Assassin in the beginning of the next match. Assassin is a good one and we win this match as well. 8 more victories follow. So, everyone but an Assassin gets a glad point... Unlike so many teams at this point, ours decided to continue and try in TA.
The map is one with the priests. We were kinda slow and indecisive in the beginning and managed to get our priest killed. So, we launch a quick attack at the enemy shrine and, to our own surprise, it succeeds. Long story short, in the very end only me and enemy spirit spammer were standing. (Barely alive, both of us ). Somehow I managed to interrupt what was needed through the heavy lag xD and the guy died from poison. So, our Assassin gains glad point, tadam! happyend
I can't say that this was my save but I steel feel really good about it. I was really proud to be a part of a team that didn't abandon its member and struggled til the very end. That really was 1 of my best moment through the game.

I wanted the bonus for riverside province so i decided to just pug it. My warrior joined a pug and we decided to use my dunk as the monk. Well halfway through the mission 2 people left and we were stuck with a zb dunk, a wammo fully dped out, a good warrior, a nuker, and me having 1 skill missing and charge as my elite. We cleared all the way to the last watchtower then the whole party whiped except for me. Well i had already used my res sig so i decided just to kill the last boss. I was running sever, galarath, and final blow as my only attack skills. I ended up fighting him for about half an hour before i finally timed my spike right so i killed him right after he used order of pain.
After that i res the monk, and we finished.

While in an iway group many months ago...
The bloodshed had been fierce. The power of R9s posed an undefeatable obstacle, the group of warriors were unable began to surrender to grenth. We were entirely wiped, except for one hero, nay one god, Bul Kathose. This savior killed the ghostly alone, then proceeded to start a massive res-train. The warriors were reborn! With renewed vengeance they proceeded to win the match- but more importantly beat the demon Sapper (4+2/2)+2.
Thus I conclude, Iway>Sapper V

lots of times my wammo has been the "last man" standing and managed to either kill the bad guys or rebirth the entire team that went on to complete the mission. Most memorable was the last mission in proph, the team members was so stoked at me saving the day and helping to complete the mission they each donated me an item when we got to droks. Was so touched as one person donated 5 candy canes (this was when they was very rare).
It's a pitty things like this don't happen more often, have yet to meet a group as friendly as that. Most PUGS now just don't listen or are not willing to go that extra mile to help other people out.
Maybe we should have a help each other out week end event!

I was in a PUG doing Riverside Province mission, playing my N/M. We were attempting to do Mission + Bonus, and had gotten off to a rather shaky start - we wiped trying to take down the first tower.
On our second try, near the end of the mission (near the suspension bridge), our party just about wiped on the second to last tower. And I had used my res signet already reviving a player in a battle already, and my hero healer (Dunkuro, I think) was down for the count. The only players left were me and an elementalist, and we still had one more tower to clear (about half a dozen baddies - probably no way we could take them).
After pondering a few moments, I realized that the boss was still left - if we beat him, there was still a chance to finish the mission and bonus. So, I called the ele over, raised a few minions, and we fought and defeated the mission boss. Tada! A charged rez signet! I went over to the last battle site and revived my hero healer, and he revived the rest of the team. We then went proceeded to the last tower, got the bonus, and then crossed the bridge to finish the mission.
It was fun to actually be able to pull away from a near disaster with a win, and ended up making a pretty memorable game experience.

Right after the Lever was added to Scarred Earth, I remeber getting ganked by a heavy hex team while fighting the first team.......they killed 5 of us off, while our ranger ran away degening to death. He put up Symbiosis (Or Fertile) right as his health was <10, and that saved him. He then naturally healed, and ressed us while the other 2 teams fought, and won the match.

I was bored one day playing as my ritualist and decided to help a pug with the Eternal Grove mission. Things were going fine until the waves started attacking the gates. I was holding a gate, looked down, and noticed most of the party had ran well away from the gates and wiped.
So here I was a spirit rit standing alone against a nice sized mob. The Npcs where running around wildly, while I did what I could. Two trees went down. Luckily, once the mobs cleared a little I was able to rebirth the monk. While i continued to hold off the critters, the monk resurrected the rest of the team.
We were able to complete the mission smoothly after that tense spot. The team continually cheered me on during the fight and were grateful after the mission was completed. Overall, it was an enjoyable experience. No cursing or name calling or other nonsense when most of the team wiped. Just a nice amount of support.

It did happen! i think i was on the aura of lich, darkaura build which does about 80 armor ingnoring damage in second, but you are weak on degen and enc removing. So they came in melee and i spammed touchof agony and wallows bite. ofcourse they die. It was just so funny to win that round alone. nevermind you believe it still happened to me, and it makes me feel warm inside.
Kotetsu Rain
I can remeber when that was also a proud moment for me.
My first time through factions I was experimenting with an a/e for the final battle against Shiro which was pretty fun. Throughout the game I played as a Critical Strikes Barrager mind you...
Anywho I was running jagged strike, foxfangs, nine tail strike and blades of steel with Ride the Lightning (yes ride the lightning) as my elite. Other skills we're shadow refuge, heart of shadow and res sig.
Shiro's got a little less than a quarter of his bar left and he just wiped out the rest of the party with his Battle Scars - Impossible Odds combo. I barley escaped by casting heart of shadow and luckily teleporting out of the way. I kite (more like run for my life) away from the attack until he runs back and then I make my move.
I rode the lightning to him and started my chain ending witht he cool motion of Blades of Steel. He gained just enough health from his Battle Scars - Impossible Odds thing for me to still be able to kill him. It was pretty cool.
I do feel like a hero everytime I run droks though

I was in a GVG on the Burning Isle, playing a W/E Shock Axe Warrior.
The enemy had pressed us into our base at VOD after killing off our NPCS, and were fighting us right at our Guild Lord.
I was instructed to break off from the group and attempt a last-ditch-effort gank. I ran through the back way, through the lava, and began killing their Guild Lord.
The other team began to kill off the rest of my team, until at last they started to work on the Guild Lord. By that time, I had the enemy Guild Lord down to 1/4 health, with myself at about 1/2 health. I frenzied into him for one final push, and got the last bit of damage right before my own Guild Lord dropped to 1/8 health for the match win.
It was awesome.

Dunes of Despair (Mission) Didn't save a Team but felt good after the accomplishment.
Playing W/N with just Henchies as a Team. Object was to get Bonus and Unfog back area for Master Carto Title & Protectors Title.
It took the 4th try to get a Scarab to come up and using Necrotic Transversal I finally got down there.
I was using a Grenths Balance Sword build. I was able to slowly kill off the 3 bosses for the Bonus which was the last Mission needed for the Protectors Title. I explored/unfogged the back area but fell short of the Master Carto Title 99.8% (Found the last few spots in the SSP).

It was an epic battle in the underworld, both teams matches with 2 monks, 2 paragons and 2 thumpers each, each player putting all of their strength into killing the other team but nothing could break such a defensive set up!
20 minutes had passed and the teams were weary from battle, the leader of one of the teams typed a message which simply said : Roll?
After 5 minutes of failed spikes with whatever damage could be mustered they complied.
My enemies rolled first. 90 on a 100 sided die.
Silence echoed over the channel in ventrilo.
I knew what had to be done, and the only thing could be done, I typed /roll 100 with more fury, might and passion than any other.
The Bible On Dvd rolls 91 on a 100 sided die.
That was the most epic victory in all of Guild Wars history.

Match Location: Burial Mounds (Heroes Ascent)
Team: Law guild team
Low-down:
We were facing a weird gimmick build, and couldn't get any kills on them. They also couldn't get kills on us. We were considering just resigning, when the other team leader suggested rolling. He rolled a 86 or so, and our ventless monk rolled a 60ish. We had said over vent that we wouldn't roll because we wanted to try one last thing, but our monk didn't hear. So at this point the other team were complaining for us to resign.
All but 3 of our team resigned, as we refused to resign to a bad pug. We tried one last push on one of their integral players, and killed him. We then spiked out player after player and their whole team wiped. They started to resign as we killed their priest, Ghostly Hero and then last 2 players.
Our win was met by spam over local chat that we were unfair, and that we didn't deserve a 'gg', but the 2 fame was worth it :P

We loaded in vs 3 thumpers, a Rt/Mo, 2 N/Rt's, and 2 N/Mo's. The situation was grim, as they kept wiping our monks, and we weren't able to penetrate their defenses. Our leader made the call on vent "Ok guys, just resign, there's no point continuing". But I disagreed. I knew we had one shot, that if pulled off right, we could beat this team. I started telling the strategy over vent, as players were still resigning, and the other team were writing their "gg"'s.
"Listen, if we can push through them, and take our their Priest, they'll get pushed out of position and won't know what to do!" I told them. "The other team are already stopping what they're doing because we're resigning, we can beat them"
Our leader made the call, and said "Ok Fenix, we'll try it".
We res'd up our players, gathered ourselves back together, and pushed right through the other team. Before they had a chance to react, we had killed their Priest and Ghostly Hero. As they were running towards us, their positioning completely gone, we pushed back into them and pressured out their healers. The N/Mo's dropped almost instantly, quickly followed by the N/Rt's. At this point the team were demoralized, and tried to get quick kills on our monks. This didn't work as we were ready for it, and the monks had just received a Morale Boost from the Ghostly kill.
The other team quickly died and were sent back to Heroes Ascent, with all of Ventrilo and Guild Chat being filled with cheers and my fellow guildies praising my amazing master strategist abilities.

Had to solo the bonus to get my sig renewed. Taking out all the Jade bows and towers on my lonesome.

I was playing my Ele trying to do The Last Day Dawns quest. We had a Necro, a Warrior, and one more that I can't remember. We couldn't find a healer anywhere. We were just about ready to give up when they asked me if I could try and heal as an E/Mo. The last time I'd had a monk skill on my skillbar was during Great Northern Wall Mission. I threw every healing prayers skill I had, used a +15/-1 offhand, and my energy storage eye. It went well until the necro, who was BiP dropped. I still have no idea how we pulled it out, but we went on to finish the quest. That has to rate as one of my favorite moments playing this game.

I had a good experience last week. I was monking for a PUG at Sanctum Cay. This mission has a lot of undead enemies so I decided to build a half 'N half bar. (Smite/Heal)
We made it to the swamps uneventfully but then got rushed by a bunch of hellhounds. My team and I tried to take down the hounds and skeletons and bone dragons and ghouls and....well you get the picture.
I've done this mission many times, and I've never had difficulty with this section at all, but with this group everyone decided to run in a different direction and I couldn't keep them healed. I decided to cut and run and quickly found that I was the only one left alive.
I rezzed a ritualist who said he had a hard rez as well, but the rest of the team was unreachable. I asked the rit to back up out of harm's way and dove in. I smited all the enemies to death and once they were all dead, I revived the team. We finished the rest of the mission easily.
Ok, who says smiting monks are useless?
