Considering this quest item has been removed from the game.... And numerous items exist as 'Quest Items' with no actual use at the moment...
The word 'Bullshit' comes to mind...
Edit: Wrong item, i was thinking of hte Tattered Cape.
But the fact that the item has no use other than to mess with people... The only way we'll know for sure is when GW:EN comes out.

I'm currently doing the LDOA thing now myself. I've covered every last little inch of pre at least twice and left nothing but scorched earth in my wake. I've talked to everybody in pre more than that and I have in the past done every quest in pre 7 times over. There is NOTHING in presear for the tapestry shard.
This individual is just convinced that there is no way that the dev team might have failed to put the rest of the quest in for the item in question. This probably has to do with a misplaced notion that ADDING the tapestry with no link would be wasting time instead of thinking that the tapestry got added but the rest of the quest was skipped due to lack of time.
Unless the Eye of the North expansion gives a quest for it next winter, there is no use for the tapestry.

In Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall there is NO use for the Tapestry Shred. There will probably be a use for it in Guild Wars: Eye of the North (--> GW:EN <--). PC Gamer Magazine confirmed that Gwen will make an appearance in GW:EN, still, the Tapestry Shred may indeed be useless.

Nah, i'm betting on it actually doing something in GW:EN. If Gwen is there then its quite likely she'd reward you or something for hanging on to her most treasured possession (the Shred).
