Price of Nightfall in Sydney, Australia
bmw4496
I have always wanted to buy Nightfall, but the prices here is just ridiculously high... EB Games is currently selling the normal (non CE) edition for $89.95 AUD, which converted to USD is around $75 dollars. Does anyone know where to get the game for a cheaper price?
We, fellow Aussies should really boycott EB Games until they adjust their prices
Rampager
they never will change its the way its always been no matter what game
bmw4496
Why are we paying more than Americans?
??Evan??
Try ordering it from somewhere online?
scrinner
Guildwars Online Store?
bmw4496
Well, the thing is I don't have any Credit Cards or anything like that.

and you don't need a credit card, just a checking account and a debit card.
I'd suggest getting one and ordering a key from the official store.

For starters, Australia is considered as part of the Europe region by NCSoft. Any units bought in Australia are shipped from England, so you should convert to Great British Pounds, not American Dollars.
At $89.95 that works out to £37.80, and RRP for GW:NF in the UK is £29.99. Now you have to add on a bit for the shipping to Oz, distribution costs and so forth, so we (Yes, I'm Aussie as well) really aren't being charged too much extra at all.
If you really feel the need to rant about it, blame the Australian dollars crappy exchange rate, although it has been getting quite a bit stronger as of late.
I am kind of surprised that your local EB is still charging full price, I bought a copy for my girlfriend for $50 just before Christmas.
*Edit* - Fixed a mistake in the prices.

Yeah, are there any alternatives besides EB and online shopping? I am thinking of importing it from maybe Asia. Oh, btw EB is having a 2 for $50 sale. You can pcik up the original GW and GW Factions for $50.
VanDamselx
You can get a Visa/Mastercard/AMEX giftcard and pre-load it with 50 bucks and buy it from the store. Those work the same way credit cards do with no attachment.
fRag_Doll
I can suggest trying Game Traders ( http://www.gametraders.com.au/ ), you might find a cheaper copy there, and if your local store doesn't have a copy they'll get it in.
Pickletron
My NF:CE was $89.95 here at EB.. got it a week or 2 before the game went online as well, couldn't have gotten MORE expensive :S
In Cairns btw, QLD.

I thought I'd mention that EB has a GW monopoly in Australia.
They call it Anet an "exclusive partner" or something, but we know better.

happens in New Zealand. I still buy it regardless.
Nightfall is selling less than $20 USD in Taiwan. (Including the other campaigns) It is all the matter of regional places. I always tend to find Australia's pricing is a bit wee high.

Why would you want to pay more for something than you have to?
If other countries get it for cheaper why must Oceania pay more?

here in malta GW costs Lm19.95... which is equivalent to 46.47 euros.
The CE is over Lm50 (116.47 euros) last time I checked.

Do you have any relatives that weren't convicts and thus stayed in the UK?
If so, you could get them to order the Nightfall CE from Play.com for £17.99 and post it off to you.

that is ridiculously expensive, given how long its been out for.
I bought the collectors edition off amazon UK at christams for less than £20, which was cheaper than the normal version i think, but still charging full price now is insane.
Can't you use a debit card or ask your parents to order it for you or something? online is the cheapest way normally, and postage(if you have to pay it at all) is less than the return bus fair, well for me anyway.

Sadly yes it is true that Australia is given Units from the Euro offices, and that the exclusive sale rights are with EB.... Think its kinda counter productive, would seriously limit there numbers, but hey.
As for the price its seems pretty even for most game prices now a days.
Onarik Amrak
Yes, the price does seem on par with most other releases at about AU$100.
But when you compare those prices to other countries, you realise you're getting jacked.

Shame I just bought Nightfall Collector's for R299 (South African currency), because it's so flippin cheap! That's like 32Euro...is that alot in comparison to most people?
prism2525
well the CE for 32 euros isn't half bad. I had to fork out more for mine. But hey, I did pre-order it.
Lydz
roflmao :P I'm trying to get my parents to fork out for Evanescence concert tickets and another R350 for the Factions CE ^^

Those gift cards may have a little fee to get like 50 bucks (for you to spend) + 3 dollars (for Visa to make money off them of course) for a total of 53 dollars but they are convenient. You can use them anywhere Visa is accepted. I take them on vacations with me
bmw4496
Yeah, thanks for the suggestions guys. I will first check out Harvey Norman
ZenRgy: I am not complaining because I can't afford a mere computer game, I am complaining because I don't want to pay more than I have to.
Does anyone know if Kmart, BigW, JB Hi-Fi sell it, and for what price? EB is indeed monopolizing ...

I've heard numerous times about Australian's getting hosed accross the boards for games, that sucks. I think I'd probably just get it from the online store if possible personally.
oh, can I use that line as a quote?
"What's that got to do with the price of Nightfall in Sydney?"
