Underworld Grand Entrance

Should probably be in Lore forum(?), but maybe it's connected to EN somehow.

It seems to join to the Hoh along with the other similar ones in Magumma, Kryta, Crystal Dessert and shiverpeaks etc. Personally i beleive it was lord Odran who made these Gateways. As current they are not used and its a good chance they never will (atleast not in gw, perhaps on gw2)
Onarik Amrak
It'd be cool if they turned that into a corrupted portal, but I guess the time for that kind of thing is over.

old news this portal leads to nowhere and i doubt they will be any use of it in the future it is just a closed gate thats all

Looks a bit like the Temple of Unseen (the place in Riverside where you meet with Dinas). I've heard about it, though never been there or seen pictures (UW groups seem a lot less successful than FoW ones).
Lotsa rumors. One is that if you bring (and these numbers are estimated, you don't expect me to remember the numbers do you?) 41 red iris flowers, 10 tapestry shreds, 5 girl's capes, and 20 flutes to the door, it will open and reveal...GWEN!
But now that Gwen is definitely going to appear in GW:EN, that theory is probably false now (unless you meet with her AGAIN...).

Chronos the Defiler
the door has nothing behind it.....except a big rock cliff. So ya...unless its a strange portal instead of a Hall...then ya

Quote from The Guild Wars Manuscripts - Book 1: The Lore of Guild Wars
Quote:
Using a spell of his own devising and the sacrifice of many souls, Lord Odran, a powerful arcanist who specialised in the study of temporal distortions, opened a portal that allowed him access into the Rift. He went in search of the gods, attempting to restore the communication that was lost when they left Tyria. Odran had hoped that he, like King Doric hundreds of years before him, could gain their favour and bring peace back to his home. The spirits who had given their lives to earn access to the hallowed afterlife were outraged by the intrusion. They turned their fury upon the mortal, attacking Lord Odran with all of their legendary, collective might. But it had been hundreds of years since most of the spirits had interacted with the physical world, and none of them had ever done so in their shadow form. As powerful as they had been in life, they could not harm the physical manifestation of the wizard lord - not yet. He was untouchable here in the land of the dead and he travelled freely through the Hall of Heroes, communing with gods and travelling where he pleased. Over the years, Lord Odran learned to use the Rift to travel across the universe. He opened portals on nearly all of the different worlds, turning the Rift into his own personal gateway. But, though he was clever, the wizard lord was himself only mortal and eventually the spirits of the Hall discovered a way to interact with the corporeal world. Odran's last physical journey through the Rift cost him his mortal life. The wizard lord was torn to shreds by hundreds of angry souls seeking retribution for his trespasses. When Odran's mortal body died, the wards and enchantments that kept his portal hidden failed, and the gates of the Hall of Heroes were laid open to all who were able to find them. THe wizard lord had been canny though; Odran knew that one day he too might be ensconced in the Hall of Heroes, so he hid the portals in the most treacherous locations he could find. The fear of death, he surmised, would keep the meek at bay. |

My humble opinion is that could be the underworld part of the shiverpeaks entrance to uw, known to everyone. Doesnt matter that you spawn else where after entering from shiverpeaks...

Occording to wiki there is also another one in Ring of Fire - "Similar temples are seen in mission cutscenes in the Prophecies Campaign and appear to be in Kryta and the Ring of Fire"
