Paragon Tombs Build
exaN
Hey, one of my guild friend came up with an excellent P/Rt tombs build. Something like this:
Profession: P/Rt
Type: Tombs farming with a B/P group.
Attributes: Command 3, Motivation 8, Leadership 9, Channeling Magic 9, Spear Mastery 10 (I don't know what runes he uses though )
Skills Set
[skill]Anthem of Flame[/skill][skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill][skill]Spear of Lightning[/skill][skill]Zealous Anthem[/skill][skill]Aria of Restoration[/skill][skill]Crippling Anthem[/skill][skill]Barbed Spear[/skill][skill]Flesh of My Flesh[/skill]
Summary: The purpose of this build is to add extra damage to BPs while helping with health regeneration. I've tried it a few times with my friend and it worked perfectly and can easily replace a BP ranger in a traditionnal 5 BPs-1 Orders-1 MM-1 Monk group or even actually being more effective.
Credits: All this build credits go to Aurelius Antiverse
Any improvement suggestions are obviously welcome. Feel free to comment.

I'm glad someone else sees the effectiveness of the paragon in tombs... however I would go about it totally different.
~where is the health regeneration? bps generally dont use spells.
~no Go for the eyes??? no anthem of envy?? you could be bringing SO much damage to the team with these...
~If you are replacing a BP that means... one less pet??
~why do you need to cripple foes in tombs?
~5 point spread?
....sorry if I seem too critical... I would just rethink the skills a bit.
this is what I would use:
[card]anthem of envy[/card] cast right before the next fight (these shouts stack with your orders Necro)
[card]"go for the eyes!"[/card] (do the math...this adds soo much more damage to the team)
[card]"find their weakness!"[/card] (have you ever seen how fast a worm goes down with DW?)
{{ [card]barrage[/card] or [card]focused anger[/card] }} (I prefer barrage because I can still perform the function of the slot I took up... but spear can work as well..both elites serve as GFTE feulers.
{{ [card]"fall back!"[/card] or [card]anthem of flame[/card] }} (fall back is nice for the minions as it heals them as well...if you want even more damage then AoF is good)
[card]charm animal[/card]
[card]comfort animal[/card]
suspear rebirth or [card]signet of return[/card]
12 marks (or spear mastery)
10 +1+2 command
8 +2 leadership
I think the rit skills you have may work well on another r/rit however... in fact out of this team build:
http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Build:T...8Tomb_Ruins%29
I would sub 3 of the Bp's for a paragon puller (^above build) a conjure Bp...(you can even bring Meteor shower for some bottlenecked areas) and a rit weapon Bp...

Khomet Si Netjer
Profession: P/N
Type: Tombs farming with a B/P group.
Attr: Command 9 (8+1), Spear 9 (8+1), Leadership 12 (9+2+1), Blood Magic 11
Skills:
[card]Merciless Spear[/card][card]"Go For The Eyes!"[/card][card]Anthem of Flame[/card][card]Anthem of Envy[/card][card]Order of Pain[/card][card]Focused Anger[/card][card]Leader's Comfort[/card][card]Signet of Return[/card]
or
[card]Merciless Spear[/card][card]"Go For The Eyes!"[/card][card]Anthem of Flame[/card][card]Blood Ritual[/card][card]Order of Pain[/card][card]Focused Anger[/card][card]Leader's Comfort[/card][card]Signet of Return[/card]
Summary: This build can replace the Orders Necromancer that is commonly found in Tombs BP teams. This paragon adds a great deal of damage to the BP ranger's attacks, with bonus damage from Order of Pain and Anthem of Envy, Burning from Anthem of Flame, and crits from Go For The Eyes. Use Focused Anger to boost your adrenaline gain so that you can spam the shouts and anthems continously. If you think your monk needs additional energy bring Blood Ritual instead of Anthem of Envy. Use Leader's Comfort to counter the health sacrifice from BR and OoP. Use Signet of Return to rez one of the other characters at nearly full health and energy, leaving the BPs and monk to continue doing what they do best. Use Merciless Spear on targets with <50% health to finish them off... this attack also has the possibility of delivering burning, extra damage, and a crit as well as the deep wound, depending on your timing.
I've used this on a number of Tombs runs and IMHO it works great, the Paragon adds much more damage and conditions to the rangers' attacks than a standard Orders Necro, and the Paragon is much more durable than the standard Orders Necro... 106 armor instead of 60 or 70.
Sorry about the lack of icons, I'm new to the forums and don't know how to include them yet. :-)

^ you just use brackets like this {card}mending{/card} ... just switch '}' with ']'
The paragon can replace the orders necro as well... but I like using the high armour for pulling mobs as well... and the necro can bring some other useful spells himself...

thanks claw! i fixed it, the build description looks much better now. :-)
I have also used Well of Power as the elite instead of Focused Anger; the benefit to this is health and energy regen for the whole team, or at least those who are smart enough to stand in the Well. The downside is that it doesn't help you spam your shouts and anthems since they are mostly adrenaline based... and it means competing with the MM for corpses. Using a corpse every now and then shouldn't be a big deal but I found that many times I was almost done casting Well of Power only to have the spell cancelled because the MM had just exploited the only corpse in the area. YMMV of course.
You can pull with Paragon thanks to the heavy armor but rangers might actually be better at that due to the plethora of skills that give you % miss chance with increased movement speed. (dodge, zojun's, natural stride, etc.). Also they've got bows to pull with, and while paragon can use a bow that would mean switching weapon sets and losing the 16AL (or more) from the shield. All in all I prefer to let the rangers take care of pulling while I concentrate on buffing the group.

Using that tombs build (with splinter weapon) works fairly well in mainstream PvE

pulling always means using a longbow..whether your skills are bow skills or not...
but meh... each to his own I guess..

Thanks for all your replies. I just want to make it clear that I'm no Paragon expert and I don't really know the skills, but I will sure let my friend know of all your suggestions which seem very constructive!

but meh... each to his own I guess.. Of course you would pull with a longbow... but why not let one of the bow-carrying rangers do this, unless you don't trust them to do it? I'd rather keep my shield and my high armor level, tyvm... besides, the BPs are replaceable and expendable, the Orders and MM and Monk are not. Just my opinion...
If you can afford to lose a skill slot on your paragon you could bring Lead The Way, that would give your puller 20s of increased movement speed. I don't think it's worth the skill slot though, rangers are well equipped for running and pulling without any help from the paragon.
Anyways, thanks for your input and I'll see you in the Tombs! ;-)

17 damage from envy +18 damage x 4 bp rangers every 4 adrenaline(2 seconds or so) = pretty decent damage... the bps themselves can equip the splinter weapon...even the orders nec can do that.

I don't often bring my paragon to the tombs - it is difficult to find somebody willing to be in anything but the normal team mould (ie have to be orders necro).
When I do, I ditch the pet. With the pet constantly getting killed, you lose adrenaline and your skills get blacked-out. Therefore I see the paragon as more of a replacement for the orders necro.
I do like to run my ranger with paragon secondary. Usually I take Go For The Eyes, and Never Surrender. NS is very cheap and useful for that little bit of partywide healing (heals pets also).
Anthem of Envy can replace NS for more damage and less defence.

a Paragorn is an excellent replacement for a Ranger in a B/P setup. more armor, even without shield, party wide boosts and a constant IAS for a bit lower damage and low lvl spirits(which is why you leave those for the primary Rangers)
here is an example build for a Paragorn/Ranger B/P(you should be the puller as you dont carry spirits and have higher armor)
[skill]Barrage[/skill][skill]Savage Shot[/skill][skill]"Go for the Eyes!"[/skill][skill]"Find Their Weakness!"[/skill][skill]"Stand Your Ground!"[/skill][skill]Aggressive Refrain[/skill][skill]Comfort Animal[/skill][skill]Charm Animal[/skill]
if you insist on bringing a Res switch [skill]"Find Their Weakness!"[/skill] for [skill]Signet of Return[/skill] but than you sacrifice a lot of potential damage(deep wound on an entire mob!)
Attributes:
12 Marksmanship
9+1 Leadership
9+1 Command
3 Beast Mastery

The build I usually run in tombs with my Para is this:
Barrage
"Go For The Eyes"
Anthem of Envy
Anthem of Flame
"They're on Fire"/"Find They're Weakness"
Leader's Comfort
Comfort Animal
Charm Animal
Signet of Return
Marksmanship: 12
Leadership: 16
Command: 4-6
This way you are doing everything a typical B/P ranger would be doing minus the interrupt. But you are providing massive criticals and increased damage to the entire group plus burning. "ToF" is useful for reducing damage but not nearly as useful as before the nerf, so "FTW" is a good replacement for deep wound of course.

Great stuff here! A couple well placed guides in the GWO and Guru forums could help paragons be accepted more often.

i have done some tomb runs as of late with my paragon, and it was great fun, the party members really enjoyed the extra criticals, and dmg output my shouts gave them.
i just ran a p/r version of the bp thats popular, just to help with dmg output onb the other bp, while not reducing the overall dmg by replacing a bp with just support.
this is the skillbar i used, i don't recall the stats, but its not hard to figure out.
[card]Barrage[/card][card]"Go for the Eyes!"[/card][card]Anthem of Envy[/card][card]Anthem of Flame[/card][card]Aggressive Refrain[/card][card]comfort animal[/card][card]charm animal[/card]
u might ask, why oh why did i bring anthem of flame?!. well the majority of us know that it doesnt trigger on every arrow, to spread fire. its there mainly for me, so its easy to keep up aggressive refrain, and conserve energy for the more important skill, barrage. casting aggressivce refrain, then letting anthem keep it up while getting energy back, allows you to pretty much spam barrage, GftE, AoE without any concerns. i did attempt this without the AoF, and i was unable o keep up the pressure, since i had to spend all my energy on aggressive, and didnt have enough to spam barrage all day long, since i didnt have any adrenaline yet. so this is the bar found to be most effective.
thats just my two cents on the paragon in tombs, possible, fun, doesnt reduce effectiveness, and most of all, different!

This is a really old thread, but since the release of PvE skills, I think Paragons should be given another look at. I see the possibility of replacing an Orders necro with a Paragon. The advantage of this would be the addition of skills such as There's Nothing to Fear and Save Yourselves as well as Go For The Eyes and Anthem of Envy, but there would still have to be some way to adapt the Para to be able to assist in the monk's energy regen as well as to assist overall damage to a greater extent in order to keep up with or exceed the ability of an Orders.
Khomet Si Netjer
Hey Archon,
I think you're right, the paragon can match or exceed what the Orders necro brings to the team, and can bring Blood Ritual to give energy to other team members as well. I have a pretty good build for this posted near the beginning of this thread, 3rd from the top. I ran through Tombs hard mode a few days ago and it worked great.
Re: Sunspear skills, I love TNTF but I don't know how useful it would be in the typical BP team... usually the minions are soaking the damage and your team isn't taking any, so 31% damage reduction is not that helpful if you're not being damaged. Same thing goes for Save Yourselves, though either of those could be useful in case they break through the minion wall and start rampaging on your team. Also TNTF has a high energy cost that makes it difficult to deal with unless you build around it. I use it on a P/W build with two adrenal shouts to keep it up constantly, which keeps Soldier's Fury up constantly. Great build but I don't think it's as useful in Tombs, it rocks in FoW and UW though.
