Me and a friend do lotteries in Pre-Ascalon D2 to help out new players.

We are always by the merchants!

You give us 10g (trade window), and pick a number 1-100.

Pay 20g, play 2 numbers & so on...

We roll a number 1-100, and whoever has the closest number to ours, wins the bet....we do it about every day around 4-5pm EST. Each round is 30 minutes, so come join us! We had 20 or so people dancing around, waiting for the numbers today...how many will there be tomorrow?! Who can tell!

Jackpot has been around 600g, but if you bet more you can up the pot!

We are not scammers, just trying to help out new people and have some fun! Come join us in D2 tomorrow around 4-5pm EST.

This isn't a player event; it's a scam!

I know you claim it isn't scamming, but the /roll command was banned in outposts for a good reason.

whats up with all the player-events anyway? Anet too busy working on GW:EN and GW2 to bother about GW1 so we the paying customers have to come up with stuff of our own?

Here's a better way to explain:

You pay 10g minimum to bet on a number
Jackpot and his friend get ANOTHER friend to bet on a number
Lots of others bet on numbers
Jackpot rezones to get the number
Winner is....their friend OMG!!
No one knows this, so they think that it's legit and keep playing
Their friend splits the money with them, and they get cash for free

You can only do /roll outside a zone. So you have to rezone to do /roll, or it won't let you.

yes i know you canonly roll 100 outside...so what youre saying is that everyone that is placing the bets in inside the outpost and he steps outside to supposedly roll to get the number and then returns with the winning number?

Tide to Go said to me in a PM (why?) that he uses the "hat system."

im such a nub and dont know what the hat system is so i googled it and got returns such as,MANO-HAT system An External transducer (Micromanometer & Phono) and a software for obtaining optimal recordings as well as for easy calculation ...

That brings back memories, when Lion's Arch was filled with /roll spam from the lottery scams *sigh*

I suppose the guy just draws the winning number from a hat he has next to him. It's all a bit dodgy though, because there's no way to tell if he is actually being honest when he says the winning number.

Yeah definetly sounds like a scam, he hasnt even replied in his own thread rebuttal us accusing him of scams. Heh....

no we cannot check it, no it might be faked but again: we do not know that for sure, so this guy is not to be declared scamming until proof of that can be given. want to know if its a scam? try it out... its not like you will go bankrupt from 10g

What burns me most about the original poster is that he explicitly states that he is trying to "Help" new players. No wonder so many new players to this game leave within the first week. that 500g they worked so hard for is scammed from them.

Um...the name "Cory Bronzewolf" didn't exist when I checked last night, and doesn't exist at the time of this post, so I'm not sure how much of a "winner" he was.

As was said before, /roll was disabled in outposts to prevent this kind of this. You should only do this with friends and guildies.

Seeing as you can solo one thing and make 80g, I don't see the gold amount as much of a problem and who would waste their time making such small money for a scam when you can easily make 1k?

This doesn't take that much time to do, and I guess if they do it in Ascalon(pre!) they can get a lot more money than you think. Screams scam to us but the newbies probably don't know any better.

If you want to help new players do what I do - GIVE them FREE items!
