I love practically everything about Guild Wars. From the beauty of Ascalon, to the shores of Kryta... from the gameplay, to the fantastic musical score... there are few things bad about the game (besides perhaps the recent nerfings on a particular profession's energy management ). But the mission cinematics are simply piss-poor. The majority of the Prophecies cinematics are tolerable, but Factions and Nightfall are so horrible that I could not watch them the first time through the game. I found myself skipping them and just talking to NPCs for various story snippets.
Why can't we have something like the cinematic for Factions? And better in-game movies, seriously! It makes me feel slightly embarassed when I show the game to friends and such and they watch these half-assed cinematics roll on my screen... since we're waiting until late 2008 early 2009 for GW2, perhaps cinematic changes would be in order for us GW1 owners?
Please, Anet. They're simply not passable.
Cinematics : MOAR plz

Aeon221
Waste of time. Focus on important stuff instead of buffing movies that no one will watch after the second or third time through them.

Opinion follows:
The one cinematic that struck me as unintentionally humorous was the the one leading up to the Tahnnakai Temple Mission.
The fight between Shiro and a very funny looking Vizu kind of seemed a little ill-conceived in its execution. Perhaps it is the character model of Vizu or the dialog...or both. Just struck me as hokey.
And, can't we just have the characters in the cinematics keep their weapons/shields shown or not shown, so they aren't popping into and out of thin air all the time?

They only really need to do two things to cinematics to make them considerably better. Now I'm not sure what script A-net uses but this would be universal and easy thigns to do in most code so I'm guessing it is for A-net script too.
Anyway, they need to turn all weapons off in CSs unless the weapon is needed for a cutscene (like fighting ones) and then the weapon can appear.
Also, all AI and decay should be turned off in CSs so no minons fight and no one dies of degen.
But to Aeon: I love the GW storyline and I somethimes play missions through again just to watch the movies. With a plot as good as GuildWars it's worthwhile watching the movies for even the second or third time.

Well... Nightfall have some good ones, like that one in which Koss throws Margrid a bag of coins.
Most things that spoil the cinematics are minions gettting on the way and some bad synchronizations, like in Raisu Palace, were you hear 'Brother', the you see a bonsai, then you hear sword hits, the you see Shiro hitting...

Imho the storyline is tearerable generic, cliche and (for prothercys) repetitive . Thus for its more entertaining to whatch poorly done Cinematics for cliche value etc.

for some reason the very first presearing cine talking about the last days dawn has always played choppy for me. Something i would like to see is what diablo 2 had. a place in options where you can rewatch any cine you have opened. this way if you skip with the rest of the party you can just go back and see whats going on.
