My favorite GW music would have to be from Factions. To be specific about the songs, it would be Factions Theme played at login screen before it was changed to Nightfall. The other would be during the cinematic video potrayal of Shiro's betrayal, the music played when his wrists get slitted. Nightfall was kinda of letdown, most of the tracks seem to be 'characterless', except for a few, namely the finale piece played during the last mission.
It would be great if the Soule brothers could have a choir to go along with their masterpiece for GW:EN, to give it a more 'epical' feel.
Your favorite GW soundtrack and improvements...

I think the Factions ones were the best too, particularly the login screen theme. I liked Prophecies too, quite a bit. The Sorrow's Furnace pack was great. Nightfall, I can't really remember much about it, it's ok I guess, but nothing caught my interest, really.
But now I don't listen to the music anymore because I get about 10 extra fps with the -nosound command line switch, so no more sound for me.

Not that I'm keeping any lists, but go ahead and send me a message if you want to know where a specific track is played.

Too many favorites but "Ascension Song" to me best captures the essence of Prophecies. It's the one commonly played in the Catacombs and Amnoon Oasis.
You can see some of the song to area mapping in the directsong file here:

This is the current setting anyway, as both the game and directsong have changed the mapping over time.

I love the Canthan music the most, too. I set the volume of the dialogue off so that I could hear the music in the cutscenes - It's really some fantastic material. My favorite is one of the songs in the Jade Sea, that starts off calm and gets louder; it reminds me of a giant turtle rising from its slumber.
Prophecies is my fav, then Factions. Specifically:
1) Temple of Tolerance (awesome!)
2) Age of the Dragon
3) Sands of Kryta
4) Faction's Theme
5) Emperor Kisu's Theme
I really like the Battle music in Nightfall though. I kinda miss it when I start fighting in Proph or Factions and there is no action music..

Edit: I also forgot about Sorrow's Furnace's music. I'm adding that to my list.

There's something about Factions, especially Shing Jea. I'll be running around Elona for a while, then map back to the Guild Hall (Isle of Meditation), do some stuff for a few seconds, then just really hear the music and my reaction is still, "Damn this music is amazing!" I used to just sit at the log-in screen before Nightfall was released just listening to that song. Have they released the Factions sound track somewhere? I'd really like to get a copy of it.
Having listened to all three soundtracks outside of the game many times, Factions is my favorite soundtrack and is the one in my opinion that holds up the best as normal listening music. "Luxon Theme" is probably my favorite. I also enjoy several of the tracks from the Battle Pak expansion.
However, my favorite Jeremy Soule score is the Oblivion soundtrack.
