I used to love the GW 'spirit', something I felt when playing the beta, in pre seareing ascalon. I belived the game was just this area you know (it may sound really dumb, but that's what I believed )
And every area discovered after this has a new felling, a new athmosphere which is great !
This and the very charismatic classes, with very specific roles, I used tolove this too.
But I'm kinda bored and desperate, because I know this spirit is gone, maybe forever :/
Now GW is made of class discrimination, rank discrimination, age discrimination, and so many other discriminations. It looks like real life morons spoiled this great game : it was relatively confidential at the beginning, but now there is more than 3 milions players, so the number of narrow minded grows as well.
And of course not to mention farmers, scammers, sellers&spammers.
I really fell SAD that the real life has sinned this game, it's a pity.

In PvE, I enjoy the story, character development, and most importantly gaming with my friends. In PvP, I enjoy winning in game that is interesting and at least generally based on skill.
Sophitia Leafblade
I enjoy the art/graphics, the play style, the storyline/lore, i just love Gw in generally really and the fact theres always lots to do and that there is a low lvl cap

When I'm in an 8 man group of people I know, doing some fun and moderately challenging thing, whether it's PvE or PvP, Guild Wars is the best online game I've ever played. I especially miss when our guild GvGed. Those were easily the best of times in Guildwars .

Reasons I play Guild Wars are:
-The combat is fun, quick, satisfying, and easy yet complicated all at the same time.
-The animations are pretty cool, a little nitpick I have about RPGs (graphics I don't neccesarily care about. Just the animation).
-Well produced sound and music.
-Easy to use interface, and also completely customizable.

I have a list that echoes most of the above posters but I'll post that after these thoughts
I've probably forgot much of what I liked about guildwars and never even realized all the things that I enjoyed while playing but I think a lot of it has to do with the allure of something new - new ice cream flavour; new clothes; new car; new relationship - basically any new positive experience. It's usually easy to remember and reflect on the first time for something, especially if you really enjoyed it. It feels like this is where my attachment to GW comes from.
For example, my best memories come from a lot of firsts, like the first time I loaded into Ascalon with my necro who took about 25mins to get 'just right'. The environment was breathtaking for a game on my POS computer and I had fun exploring, checking out visual effects like casting/attacking animations, spell effects, generally messing about while learning the controls and mechanics of the game. Post-searing I kept up my exploring habits and ended up somewhere in kryta with crazed angry birdmen who would chase me down at lvl 9 and slaughter me. I was particularly afraid of the 'Purple Face' , and soon learned that fighting these guys was taking too long all by myself at 60DP so I went back to Ascalon City and began the game from there (actually fought all the way back before remembering map travel).
Then there was the period where I first really started to look at the seemingly massive list of skills for each profession to come up with effective builds in pvp; the first time I took down a monk by myself; first time completely shutting down casters on ranger; first trash-talker to eat dirt by my hands; first time getting owned by some warrior; first time holding halls, and losing shortly after; first time realizing how important it was for everyone to be on the same page in GVG; first time getting stomped by some Korean guild (serious learning/humbling experience); first wins over said guilds later on.
And when I heard the first new expansion was coming out months later things were at an all time high for me. I was looking forward to seeing what the creative group at ANET had come up with.
But, sadly, I took a break from GW before Factions came and was never able to recapture those feelings. GW simply became part of a routine after that, like brushing my teeth in the morning. I would log in at night, do some random thing for an hour, rearrange inventory on a pve character, turn on local chat for a few seconds before turning it off again, double check friendlist to see if any old players returned to the game, and finally log off for the night
P.S. I like positive threads like these but they never seem to get much response. Could be because they get recyclyed so often I dunno. Feel like searching for an older one to see what ppl where saying back then.

I like that the game mechanics are not aimed at making the player the meanest killing machine ever by simply letting him level up to infinity. It keeps the character human. You know you did something extraordinary when you defeated several opponents 8 levels above you while still remaining human.
I like the way prestige is about prestige, not about functionality. You don't have to have the best, most expensive gear to gain maximum functionality, giving the new players an equal footing.
I like the way the character can reform and adapt, becoming something else, rather than remaining specialized in one thing alone, never elarning anything new.

I like the story lines and the way the game looks in general. The game play is very fluid and easy to use. I am amazed at how good everything looks and then to see the minimal requirements the game has from my computer.
Also because rare items are only different looking and not better than other items as such there is less emphasis on the expensive items so that takes out a lot of crap like stealing accounts and selling weapons for real money. Of course you don't completely wipe it out but GW accounts simply are not worth as much in real money terms as WoW accounts for example and thus we are not a prime target for the criminal world. And that is a big plus.

1) The Graphics
2) The Gameplay
3) The community- No MORPG has perfect community but GW has for me the best community. Sure there are idiots (like no MORPG has it) but most of the time there are great people
4) Dynamic environment- The free updates, the constant skill balancing aka "nerfing" which adds some spice in the game. So when Anet announces a skill balancing update it usually excites me. I could hate them or love them. SURPRISE ME ANET!

Well i like the originality. Its the first completely instanced rpg (for me).

I like Guild Wars because it is fun to play. You have many options on each character you build. The environment is beautiful. As a member of a nice friendly guild of over 70 people and a 6 guild alliance I always have someone to game with. Guild Wars is simply the best!!!

The reason I love guild wars is because there is always something to do when u hav 3 huge maps to use. In addition. I love the fact that there is a low level cap and weapon damage cap. That is because I believe that games should be about preperation and true skill. Not purly how long uv played and leveled. That is mainly why im pissed off about GW2. im probably not gonna even buy it cause of the raised level cap. Anet is wasting the idea of GW2.
