That's a really mean thing to say. Rahja's trying to set up something for our enjoyment, not for personal gain.

but if I ever thought this was a scam from the start I would NOT have donated 100k plus 10 ectos to Rahja for this event.

Damn...it was moved to May 5th. I was looking forward to taking a virtual date to the ball, but I guess instead I'll be taking a real date to prom.

Wow. This is really incredible how so much news of this event is getting around! Sounds like it could be a great time! I had seen this thread at a glance when it was first posted, but didn't really have time to read about it... then today a friend of mine PM'd me in game about it saying how big it is getting! Shortly after then, i got *ping! ping! ping! ping*, FLOODS of PM's from friends about this!!!!!!

Well, that weekend i actually might be working T_T". However, i will see if i can push my work schedule back a bit, i really wanna attend this event! I will know if i can attend in the next couple of days, so Rahja, if you need any more people to volunteer to help with anything, i'd be down for helping! I am an officer in a large PvE guild, so i will also post this thread link in our announcements. We have lots of DoA guild friends, connections and contacts, so you may see quite a lot more attendees!

Anyway, i hope to see yall there! And again, i will repost in a couple days or less to say for sure if i can help out. yay!!!!!

Alright Come on guys. There's gotta be a way to catch the attention of Anet with this thing. If nothing else at least Gaile Grey should somehow become informed of it. After all she was at the Massacre of Maguma Stade so why shouldn't she make it to this huge thing?

Also I am going all over the Continent of Tyria spreading the news about this thing in the towns. I'd like to form a publicity group and have people cover the different regions (ie: one person cover all of maguma jungle, someone else cover all the districts of lions arch, another person cover the northern shiverpeaks, ect.) If you would like to be a part of the group message me in game(Master Halbarad) or send me a private message right here in guilwars guru. First come first served as far as what you get to cover on the map. But like I said pm me and ill send you a list of the regions I need covered.

They may know, but they don't seem to be caring too much, nor does support about my account! Alex Weekes from PLAYNC was nice enough to notice, and Izzy is aware of the event, but this type of thing isn't his department. Unfortunately, it looks as if I am going this one alone without any official support as of yet. I will continue to hope for it though, but if I cannot log into my characters (thus the reason I submitted a support ticket), then the event will have to be hosted by a different character, and some of the donations are on my ritualist, mule, and dervish... all of whom I cannot log into... So let us hope that PLAYNC support will come through with some type of help.

You know, I was waiting for a response like this. Truth be told, yes, I could very well scam every single person who has donated and backstab both the Guru and GWO communities complete, the entire event could be an illusion so I could make millions in donations and get my sweet tooth/ale hound titles completed... but to what end? Let it be known to you and to any other sceptic, that I do not play Guild Wars very much anymore, and would really have no gain in scamming anyone. I was a member of the guild [LBS] many months ago, back when that guild tag was THE SYMBOL OF TRUST. The days of [LBS] have come and gone, but my integrity is still there. During the trade window glitch a few months ago, I scammed 5 people, in a matter of speaking. I dupped the trade window and stole a mini bone dragon, 10 shards, and 60 ecto... but get this... I returned them after I "scammed" them. I gave a speech in ToA AD1 on how to avoid the scam, the signs about it, and taught around 1500+ people how to avoid the scam all while avoiding teach HOW to do it. There have been many times where I could have scammed people on a GRAND SCALE, and I do mean grand. Holding 500k for Sir Craig Gordon during my days in LBS, holding a perfect chaos axe for another LBS member, and transfering thousands of platinum over the course of my playing history... so many opportunities to steal and deceive people. I didn't. Why? Integrity and honor. My word is worth more then a perfect dwarven axe. Why? Because all we have in this world is our honor, our integrity, and trust is the only system that humans can truly rely on. I hold trust to be the most important aspect of my life. Why don't I scam everyone here? Because my honor, my integrity, who I am would be ruined and my name would be forever known as a name that isn't trustworthy. Dishonor is far more expensive then anything I could gain by scamming here. Hope that clears that up.


Anyways, thanks all for the support, and keep spreading the word. Changes to the event are coming in the near future, so keep your eyes peeled for them, including staff updates, donation updates, donor list, and new/revised events to make the event even more worth the visit.

Hate to double post, but really just noticed this. I am actually SAD that Gaile has yet to notice/recognize this event. The mursaat event was wonderful, and having Gaile there really made it all that much more fun. I honestly hope that Gaile will be involved in some manner, directly or indirectly. I did email her in hopes that she can pass on some words to the dev team for me... I asked for a response from both ANET and Gaile regarding issues, whether their ruling was in favor of the event or against it, I just wanted a response. I have yet to receive one. I know they are busy, so I will continue to wait for their response, until the day before the event. If they respond ON May 5th, it will be too late and unfortunately the event will already be in full motion. You can only stop a slow rolling car, not a 600HP sports car with the petal to the metal.

I have renewed hope. Notice gaile mentions a small event, not a major one. It is my honest hope she is referring to this event! Wouldn't that be wonderful?!?! I certainly think so!

Do you still need people for the event? Cateres and checkers and such? I'd love to help out,this looks like a lot of fun!

I saw Gaile's entire showing on the 20th of April. After Gaile mentioned the "mini event", I shamelessly plugged the event saying: "Yes! The Ascalon Royal Family Masquerade Ball on May 5th at Serenity Temple!" I was hoping to inform more people with saying that and hoping she would respond as to if she was attending. Then you see her respose in the link. From her response it would sound like she has somehow contacted you already.

I've informed my guild of The Ball and hope that many of them will attend. I am very much looking forward to this event. Great idea and I hope to plug events like this in the future.

I'm sure you have all checked the official GW site to see that this event has been posted for all to see in the community section and even mentions your name, Rahja. What more could you want? The Official GW Wiki's summary of Gaile's visit shows her having intentions to attend The Ball also. I think we under estimate how many people will show. I believe this to become a success!

I did want to interject this though. I believe Gaile will come incognito as this is a masquerade party. After seeing the chaos that occurs when Gaile appears I think she will enjoy being in disguise, so she can enjoy the ball and not upstage the event or its schedule. Though a short appearance of some kind should be in order for the handing out of prizes to get people's attention.

Personally I would love to see the ArenaNet team decorate Serenity Temple with lights and perhaps a sky change similar to Shing Jea's changes for events to accent to the atmosphere. That would truly cause more large community events to occur I believe. This could be great! Or it may cause hurt feelings when player's events aren't recognized or ArenaNet doesn't have the time or resources to help as often as players may like. I seem to remember reading some sort of an update around the time of the introduction to guild hall amenites or perhaps after the success of a holiday event, that ArenaNet would try to help with guild events if they could. My memory leads me to believe it was towards the very end of an interview or update of somekind.

How exactly is this costume contest going to work? Regular armor will be dull and drab,and certianly there will be a hundred candy cane people around...just wondering.

Correcto. Details on that will be in the post here on Guru and GWO around the 30th of the April, aka in 6 days. That will be the thread where you sign up to participate. It will be first dibs kind of thing, so first people to post they are coming are enrolled, no more after the spots are filled. More on that in the post though.

Right, and I certainly hope she will be attending. Alex Weekes of PLAYNC should be coming incognito. I will be making my staff aware of his presence so he gets free drinks and sweets etc, and the same will apply if Gaile contacts me. Gaile I would hope would come incognito, because as you mentioned, her presence tends to create chaos at times, and would most likely cause the event's 4 hour schedule to become skewed and more like 6-7 hours... but I do hope she pops in for a quick hi while not incognito, to show awareness. I haven't noticed her on the forums much lately, so I assume she is busy and will eventually respond here, Patience is a virtue.

But yes, this event is huge. The feedback and community has truly come together for this one. The amount of donations, support, and kindness so far has been great, and I truly hope that continues up until and through the event, and far after it as well (at least the support and kindness).

As an update, I am going to log in to the game now, so if you want to donate some shards, ectos, jewels, RARE skinned golds and VERY RARE greens, as well as stackable party items. I am running so low on space guys, I am needing to be picky. If you had thoughts of donation but do not meet the above criteria, please don't be upset. I really appreciate your kind thoughts of donating, and remember, it is the thought that counts and makes you an outstanding community member and a truly great person. If you had a genuine intent to donate but don't have the items above, so what? Just come to the ball, your presence is donation enough for me. <3
