Hi, haven't played in forever mainly because of the HUGE patches. I logged in about 5 months ago and even with a broadband connection I was waiting forever to load Bergen Hot Springs, because I had to download so much crap. So I kinda gave up. Anyways anyone have a solution, or do I have to download ~1 hour patches for all 4gagillion different areas?

Add the -image flag to your desktop shortcut. Start the client, and go do something else for a while. It will download every file and decompress everything. Depending how much you need to download, speed of your connection and computer speed, it may take a few hours. Remove the flag before trying to play afterwards.

Awesome, thanks. I wonder how GW has changed since I last "really" played over a year ago, instead of just keeping my account alive.

Your account never gets deleted, ever. Nor chars or any items.

I keep a 2nd GW shortcut on my desktop, labelled Update, with the -image added to target line. Whenever, I know a large update has been done, I run that to add the complete update to my dat file, instead of the piecemeal "as needed" ones while playing.

For anyone facing a huge update through absence or new chapter purchase, I recommend doing it overnight.

Me too! GMTA

It's a lot easier to do that every once in a while then to have to wait to load.
