GWG Ventari - People who change prices

Not sure how others feel about this, but I think that people should be held accountable for the S/B and B/O prices that they set once an item receives bids. A quick example of this: There was a certain item that had an S/B of 100k and a B/O of 100 + 30e. I placed a bid of 100 + 15e and was confident that I had a good chance to win the auction with that bid. Then, the seller changes the B/O to 100 + 20e. Suddenly, the dynamic of the auction is changed. Granted, someone could have outbid me with 100 + 20e at any time, but that bid would be with no guarantees, and the bidder would know that. At this point, if anyone outbids me, it will likely be for the B/O price and I'm out of luck. I could raise my bid by 5e, but I don't think that's fair, that's not how the process is intended to go. I shouldn't feel pressured to increase my bid by 5e because I now fear someone beating me with a B/O bid. That seems to be a bit of exploitation to me. I think there should be a rule about tampering with prices in the midst of an auction that has received any bids. I'd like to hear what others think about this.

GodofAcid, the nature of our Ventari's Sell Forums means that there is nothing binding about it. Most transactions go off without a hitch, while we lay down the rules and guidelines there's just no way for us to know that someone has edited a price within a thread or made some other random change. It's not something we can monitor or control. Please remember that nothing is binding in this forum, while we hope good people would see the transaction through, remain honest, keep the same price... there is no guarantee. During the course of someone trying to sell an item in this section, they do have the right to adjust their price (whether higher or lower) depending on how the community is responding and according to what happens in game.

Alright, fair enough, point well taken. Even if there were a rule against it, people would begin to hide the fact that they're doing it and it would come down to a he said she said sort of thing. After putting more thought into this I realize there's no simple practical solution to this. One thing I was unclear about are that many people are making no bones about it that they've edited their prices, seemingly to influence bidding or put pressure on previous bidders to raise their bids in many cases. It's not being done in a concealed fashion. I guess the only thing that can be done is if people discourage that sort of tactic. It still seems like "changing the rules as you go" to me when people do this, but I do realize there are no guarantees with Ventaris. I appreciate your response. I'd like to thank you for editing my topic title as well. I was tired when I posted this and I realized after the fact that I had confused the area with auctions.
