Loot is now scalable to party size?
ender6
First off i did tombs in Hard mode last night, actually made the place somewhat interesting -- quite fun really.
Secondly I was reading the updates today and it said:
"Loot now scales according to party size"
So does that mean if you are solo'ing you will get 1/8th of the drops you use to? That would put an end to farming....
Can anyone confirm this? Or am I simply misinterpeting the update?

Ender is right, there is so much info out there but every thread is vague and across the board. Trying to find a definitive answer this early is hard. Then you get ppl who could have contributed useful info in the same amount of time it took them to type something stupid. Thats the complete problem with this community. It be one thing if it said "Pre-Searing Cadet" under his name.

Just started Guild Wars the same day they release Hard Mode. This is my first post. So there are people out here who find this sueful. Thanks.

And to answer the question. Yes, for HARD MODE only, if the max party size is 4, 6, 8, 12 or whatever, that is how the drops/gold will be divided.
If you go out solo, you will have invisible/non-helping henchmen in your party, stealing - er, claiming - their share of the loot. These are the new Henchperson Union rules.

My tests beg to differ. I did a quick clear of the first few warden groups in Arborstone Explorable in normal mode and came up with six drops total for four groups killed, instead of 18-24 drops for four groups killed. The loot scaling is for all modes.
The Bard
so if you play soft mode the drops are still like they used to?

Erm ... as far as I have seen so far ... It's not for hard mode only.
They have nerfed solo farming in normal mode too. And this one is not going to be recovered from.
Basically you will always get 1/8 of the drops no matter how many people are in your party (in an 8-person area obviously, in a 4-person it would be 1/4). Before if you were solo you would get all the drops. Henchman flagging and dead or d/ced party members don't help either.

"Monster levels in Normal Mode are unchanged. This means that their drop rates are the same as before (though note that drop rates now scale with the size of the party).
An example of this lowered drop rate is as follows. The 12 Dragon Moss that spawn in relation to the quest A New Escort outside Saint Anjeka's Shrine would usually drop between 10 and 12 items per solo run. They now drop 1-3 items."
Straight from Guild Wiki... if this is true, i hate you Anet.

Nooo - I can't handle that. Or maybe I can, as I always get bad/no drops anyway. I only "see" good drops when playing with people - they get the good drops.
Example: Hard Mode - Sunqua Vale
1. me + 3 heroes - good gold, some whites/blues, two purples
2. same night - me and guildmate + 1 hero each - good gold, several purples, golds - one for me, two or three for him, lockpick for him, tome for him
Need I continue?

Yeah, use the Riverside threads, if you couldn't tell, the posts there are all complaining about this "nerf."
