Traps could use a little love.

Ranger here.
Love the new ANet changes to the 'timers' on the skills.
It sure would be nice if traps could get skill timers as well. In addition, If I were king for a day, I'd add a little skill trap marker so everyone (including me)could see where the traps are.
Other than these, I'm very pleased with the slu of QoL changes ANet has made.

/signed for all of it in PvE
The traps range would be easily side stepped by humans, thus not activating it. Hero/henchmen AI would not recognize it and they would be hit. Think of it this way: Hero battle, a ranger sets a trap. The opposite team PC side steps it and continues, his heroes follow him the fastest path they can find, which is through the trap. They get owned, because they are blind, and burning.

Ah- yes, you are quite right, and not at all what I considered in my OP. This was for PvE only.
I do not PvP, and, as a consequence, I often forget that part of the game.
Is there a presidence for a skill performing differently in PvP as opposed to PvE?
If not, then the marker would be a poor idea- for your very reason.
Still, I'd like to see a timer on the skill.

XD.
Obviously, PvP enemies won't see your indicators!
Only your party members would be able to see them!
I do like the idea, as long as it do not affect PvP gameplay.

my thoughts on the indicators is to make rangers able to spot traps set with an equal stat or lower than their own. (My wilderness survival is 9 so I can see lvl 9 traps or less.)
friendly traps would be green and enemy traps would be red

Well... I on't disagree with a skill to find them
Or a cahnce to find them if you don't move near them.
Or a timer that depends on the diference, you you'll have to stay 3 seconds without moving to find traps set with your attributes or lower in your area.
But quickly finding and spoting for allies? That would just kill the purpose of traps.
Let's stick with the 'show to allies' idea. And leave the 'detection' for other.

As long as allies see the indicators, and enemies do not, I'll go with this.
