I'm convinced chest drops in HM are better. From the 15 I've opened so far, one got me a purple and 10 had perfect upgrades.

Haven't seen any good chest drops yet, my best from the 14 locked chests opend was a warrior tome (non elite).
Party Size shouldn't have any effect at all since they just drop for he/she who opens it. tough it might spread the damage a bit and make it easier to survive the run as a group....

yes, I believe that since you've opened 5 chests, you're equipped with enough experience to dictate how chests in HM work.

Its not the drops that affect me, its the breaking lockpicks.

opened 4 got 2 purples but also got 2 perfect golds with low reqs.

After 15 chests in hard mode (Gate of Secrets), got 4 golds, 11 grape and broke every single lockpick (allegedly I have a 18% chance to save).
Golds seemed to be of normal quality to me.

These lockpicks are bullshit. I havea 23% chance to be able to reuse 1. I've opened 5 chests so far. Only once did my lockpick not break (fair enough... thats about right) and 4 of them were purple shite.

hard mode chests own. i bought *1* lockpick.. it lasted 5 chests and i got sup vigor and elite warrior tome and a req10 jade sword (crap mods tho... YAY 20% vs trolls!!!!!)

Well, i have used up about 18 lockpicks, ive found an elite monk tome/monk tome/req9 gold mursaat hammer w/ no dmg mod/
thats the main good stuff, some are illusion staves, lots of offhands, my gold/purple ratio is real good though. id say 3-5:1 gold/purp?
iono, heading my sin to hells precipice for some further testing. Ice floe is decent, thats where i went to hunt mursaat stuff, i pissed myself when i found the req9 gold mursaat, but RED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GORED ENGINE GOed it over when it had no dmg mod, im still a lil upset.
