Creating PvP armor - hidden stats?

I've noticed in a number of places, particularly on guildwiki's armor and builds pages, people make reference to some types of PvP armor giving a specific stat bonus - for example, guildwiki's shock axe build advises you:

Quote:
Use full Gladiator's Armor with Stoneskin Gauntlets to raise your energy pool and extend your knockdown.
Now when I look at the Gladiator's stats in the armor creation pane in game, I don't see anything that indicates that it effects my energy pool. After looking around a bit, it seems like the above quote is referring to armor with full radiant insignia... but I can put radiant insignia on any armor I want in PvP.

Is this just an unclear way to say that when I create my PvP armor I should put Radiant Insignia on whatever armor skin I like? Or is there some hidden stat that I'm not noticing? My assumption at this point is that this is a holdover from PvE or earlier PvP armor systems, and that I should indeed just make my armor of choice with Radiants, but I thought I'd check here.

Thanks in advance.

The article was probably written before the PvP equipment menu (J Menu) was created. The refrence to "Gladiator's Armor" is the exact same thing as radient insignias, as the property of Gladiators armor is/was + energy.

What Zui said. Gladiator's armor was the phrophecies warrior armor that was (and still is) equivalent to radiant armor.

Before insignia's existed each armor skin gave a different bonus.
