[Playing on Euro Servers]
One side effect, or helpful 'bonus', of the Hard Mode update, in my view, is the resurrection of the humble PUG. I was playing Great Northern Wall, and got into an excellet PUG. While i was there i also saw loads (around half a dozen) others PUGs on the go. i havn't had this kind of PUG expereince since i was a noob over a year ago. It is so much fun fighting through all these old missions, with a really good group of good players, having fun, having a good challenge, and just having a laugh. Although i havnt experienced much of the rest of Hard mode, i'd hope that it is the same. Henchies are doing that great in missions, and the micro management for heroes might be a bit too fiddly. and so step in the PUG player. And since you have to be level 20, they arent n00bs, and are decent enough so you can have fun.
So, i urge you, if you havnt experienced a hard mode PUG yet, try it. It is alot more fun. Everyone knows what they should do, how they should do it, and you have a laugh along the way. The reason: before in missions you had all f your newb players, and if you wanted to have fun, you just had to get a guold team together. Now, everyone doing the missions are expereienced. They have the necesary skills to be able to not totally concentrate on playing the game and having fun.
Thanks to Panzer Forge, Elemental Renegade and Der Hasi for opening my eyes to the fact that a good PUG can be got, and Hard Mode is the place to get them.

My prediction is that hard mode will kill PUGs unless the difficulty is toned down. It's all fine and good to have people who 'know what they are doing' in the first mission of the first campaign, but things are _quite_ different later on.
The way hard mode is shaping up, it seems to me that only organized guild or flist teams will get anywhere fast. Whether this is a good thing or a bad thing is up for debate.
