Splintering Barrage?
Sauron the Evil
I have recently capped barrage with my ranger and was wondering what the attributes and skills were of the splintering barrage build. Please keep in my mind I will not using this for a b/p group, just missions, quests, etc. Thank you in advance.

The build I'm using goes something like this:
Beast Mastery: rest (6, I think)
Marksmanship: 12 (major rune)
Expertise: 9 (superior rune)
Chanelling Magic: 12
Use runes as you see fit. I have a WS mask and can't be bothered to change it. You will benefit most from a Marksmanship mask.
[skill]Barrage[/skill] [skill]Distracting Shot[/skill] [skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill] [skill]Throw Dirt[/skill] [skill]Whirling Defense[/skill] [skill]Comfort Animal[/skill] [skill]Charm Animal[/skill] [skill]Flesh of My Flesh[/skill]
You can switch out TD/WD for a self-heal or another interrupt. You can also lose TD/WD and D.Shot and take [skill]Nightmare Weapon[/skill] and [skill]Dual Shot[/skill] for a "nightmare spike" which is useful in some occasions. But you'll need to have other people in the party interrupting, then.
There is lots of room for changes here, depending on where you are adventuring.

Conjure builds are boring Altough I've never used one, so don't listen to me
I use a Sup Expertise becuse I can ^_^ In most places the health loss isn't a major problem. And you need Expertise at 9, if you want to be able to spam barrage.
For the stygian HM farm, I'm guessing you'll want Lightbringer's Gaze as well. And maybe lose the pet, but I don't know what parties form there, since I finished NF yesterday and haven't had time to check out the new areas yet.

Nope, and MoR is rather E costly for a Ranger. And what if you cast it BEFORE an entire group is arrgoed? then you only get half half of them burning. Or the Hex can be removed.
Splinter + barrage is super spammable with NO E worries and more DMG
I've tried both in several areas of play. Splinte + Barrage hands down.
If I'm not in ToPK, then I drop the pet skills, Ill add a second INT or another dmg skill

I can't tell if you're saying you won't be using a pet or if you're saying you won't be using this for something like a b/p tombs team. In case you're using a pet, the following is like Malko's build with some slight differences, and I used it successfully this weekend in hard mode in Tyria (and Gate of Secrets to farm LB points).
I had same attributes as Malko distributed slightly differently w/ a BM mask and sup rune.
I used a Rotwing Recurve bow, but once their health bars turned green from the poisonous bite, those lvl 24 to 28 monsters died so fast the 33% extra poison time from the bow sometimes was never used.
[skill]Distracting shot[/skill] [skill]Splinter Weapon[/skill] [skill]Barrage[/skill] [skill]Poisonous Bite[/skill] [skill]Comfort Animal[/skill] [skill]Charm Animal[/skill] [skill]Flesh of My Flesh[/skill]
and the 8th spot has a lot of possibility - self-heal or BM lunges or pounces for interrupts, lightbringer gaze, etc. Like Malko said, you have a lot of flexibility with the splinter barrage build.

Maybe it's just me that either don't knwo how to play it or i had a wrong build.
But i tried a splinter/barage build and found it pretty inneficient. I can't remember my stats and can't access GW for now, but can some one tell what's so great about the build and where does the main damages come from?
Note I'm not saying I had a particulary efficient build or that I played it well.

The damage comes from Splinter and Barrage.
Use splinter on yourself, and use Barrage on the mob. At 12 Channeling, Splinter will do 41 damage to all adjatcent enemies that are hit by 4 of the 6 arrows from barrage. If they're clustered up, that's a whole lot of damage.
Only works against mobs, tho, because the initial target isn't hit. But if 3 enemies are next to each other, all of them will get the damage from Barrage, plus 2*41 That's at least 100 damage (at 12-14 Marks Barrage does 30-40 damage against a Grasp in ToPK, IIRC) each. In bigger mobs, it's more than that.
But that's the key issue. Mobs. It won't work against a single enemy.

Ishtar Serket
Its a great combo in PvE since frequently enemies will bunch together and they don't seem to consider it to be AoE damage, at least when I use it. For PvP its useless since no targets are going to bunch together to be susceptible to ele AoE attacks, let along splinter/barrage combo.
