Librarian Title Suggestion
Ravi
So Hard mode hits, and we get new skill tomes! yay! now, its pretty much obvious that since we get this new "skill tome mechanic", there's room for a new shiny title?
what i suggest is for each tome a player reads it awards progress towards the librarian title, plz offer feedback/ideas on this posibility.

But what if you can't "read" the tome, due to the fact that you have every skill already? Or what if tier 4 required 200, and you only had 100 more skills left to get. You would end up unable to go to 200 because there are no skills left that you don't have.

@logan: if this title were to be implemented then the title should be divided into tiers totaling the number of available skills up to date, for example the skill hunter title got divided so it can have max tiers, i believe the same would apply here.
eg. canthan master librarian (for all cantha based skills learned thru tomes)
also regarding the fact that u wouldn't make the title if u already have the skills: the same happened with skill hunter, i dont see that being an obstacle to get this title implemented. ^^

Thomas.knbk
it already counts towards the skill hunter title
Ravi
true, but what its being suggested here is not about elite skills, but about ANY skill tome read by the player (by read i mean any skill learnt from a tome).

No.
Why not? Because it can't be attained by too many characters.
So, what if your character has already all skills? You can't get it.
What survivor? Yeah... you have to create a new character for a Survivor, yes.... BUT when survivor was added, there was already Death:0 characters, and they got the title.
Make it an accound-based title?
Nope, nope, way too PvE to be account based.

Why not just make a title based on total skill knowledge? Tomes are just a way to get skills. We have an elite skill hunter title, one could see the place for a "full unlock" title.
I don't really think it's needed, but I have ~800 skills on my ranger, and it would be an incentive to finish up the skill collection I guess.

It's a good idea. Maybe each time a tome is dropped you get a point towards the title, much like the golden eggs counted towards the Treasure Hunter title on easter

ME like a LOT^^ good thinking dude.

Tomes are just an easy way for your monk (for example) to get skill hunter in Tyria without slogging through to Dreadnaught's Drift for Feast of Corruption like your necro had to.
I don't think it's a bad idea, but I don't think it's needed, instead it's a bit redundant. imho

How about we do NOT add more titles. I fairly doubt you have all possible titles maxed already. How about you go and get those?

because some people have already obtained all the skills if not a large amount of them already, this title should be based off of the total number of tomes in possession.

A scholar title for learning all non-elite skills in a profession or per campaign is a great idea.
I have 600 on my warrior already

hhmm i agree with the books picked up award a point towards the titel idea.
now for those ppl who think, "hey since i cant get the title, its not a good idea", hear this: it's not a good thing to dump a good idea just cuz u wont be able to get it.
and for those who think the game doesnt need more titles: well everyone can have something they might like, so its not a bad thing to have variety, u might not like more titles, but remember this: its not only u who log and play GW, there could be other ppl who like this idea.
i also agree with the fact the some players might not get the title therefore, imo, having the title be about books found (a la golden egg hunt) sounds like a terryfic idea to me.

the scholar title would be better as the tomes can go towards it too. This way even the people who have maxed skills can still get the title.

Hehe, I couldn't care less about more titles, but the thought of a 'Bookwyrm' title amuses me.

Terrible idea for a title (even ignoring that all titles are terrible ideas).
I believe that skill tomes were a small attempt by the devs to fix the excessively high cost of casual players buying skills. Unfortunately, tomes are being priced beyond that target market (because they circumvent skill point needs). Creating a gold sink market in skill tomes would destroy that even more -- look at the markets on gold items, keys, sugary bits, and alcohol drinks for examples. Plus, they'd probably ruin things even more and give skill tome title holders a passive discount when buying skills normally. (Grr, how I despise that there are titles that affect game play percentages.)
It was a good attempt on A.net's part, but not quite well-enough executed. Especially since they only drop in hard mode!

Tomes are a gift, one that is far too generous as it is. What's more is they drop all over the place in hard mode. You guys are taking your gifts and just asking for more.
And change 'KoaBD' to 'Meh,..' already.

For Scholar Title for Skills unlocked.
Change the way Tomes work. If you try to "relearn" a skill you already know, the interface will prompt you:
You already know this skill.
Are you sure you want to read this Tome.
This will increase your Librarian knowledge.
Yes No
Therefore, anyone could get the Librarian Title.
