You can substitute Parasitic Bond for any other hex spell, I personally prefer Shroud of Silence, but it doesnt matter. Any comments?

Works rather nicely in Arenas, just Siphon your target, use Shroud of Silence on the teams monk (to stop them saving my target), So much more useful than just monk stomping.

standard hex-black-dual-black-dual combo

can switch the order as necessary; i usually deepwound first

i find that shattering assault has been getting me more kills than other duals lately; it's great shattering guardian, shield of regen, life bond, spirit bond, armor of earth/stoneflesh eles, etc and leaving them naked and defenseless. and it's unblockable. damage is on par with other duals, but BoS/DB wont do jack on a protted target

hex/cond cleanup is SO important to me, even more than self-healing or IAS, cuz it keeps me functional and ready to kill

Problem with Deep Wounds these days is that they're so damn visible. You might switch SA and TF around, so you'll remove guardians first, and then follow up with the spike.

yea true that, about deepwounds . if i know some effective enchants are up, i will SA 1st. also, if the target is already deepwounded, like if my previous TF hasnt worn off or from another source, i might SA twice (4 sec cooldown and more damaging than TF)

a problem tho is if the target is already blocking somehow, before i get an offhand in. in those cases i either 1)wait out the duration, counting in my head 2)switch to another target that cant block 3)try to hit it anyway, there's still a % chance i could

can also bring expose but it's more expensive and less spammable. siphon is better when hex removal exists, plus it's a snare

Deep wound is great at the end now, thus Impale owns even more!

[skill]Expose Defenses[/skill][skill]Shadow Prison[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill][skill]Impale[/skill][skill]Signet of Toxic Shock[/skill][skill]Feigned Neutrality[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

I used that with Dash instead of rez for Hero Battles for a while, it was perfect for altar ganking and capping. Also used Assassin's Promise/Dark Prison in PvE for several different areas, worked fine in every case.

The one that I ran into around here that I managed to put together goes as follows (Not good at putting the pics in so sorry for just text).

Assassin's Promise, Burst of Agression, Dark Prison, Black Lotus Strike, Twisting Fangs, Black Spider Strike, Blades Of Steel, and Feigned Neutrality

The guy who put that one together said he had loads of fun with it and another person mentioned that he liked what it did. In essence I did not like the fact that I could not do the kind of continuous outright damage my Dervish could, till I ran into the above. The only thing that can stop me is a mesmer mob in PvE. Against normal squishies I will kill it by the time I hit twisting fangs. Armored types I will have them dead by Black Spider, and on occasion I actually have to pull out Blades. All in all I have 11 seconds to kill as soon as I hit assassin's, and it takes only a few seconds to go through all of the skills, so I can kill and switch to the new mob and have all my skills reset for him. Wash-rinse-and-repeat, and you have a rather nasty death machine. Add in X's Daggers (I can never spell the stupid name), and you are sundering left right and center with all of the carnage I can normally dish out. Nothing is perfect, and there are times I get caught and I have to wait for a normal recharge, but that seems to be an exception rather than the rule if you let the henchies kill the Mesmers before you go howling commando. With henchies or in party I can say this is one of the funnier builds I have run into with assassins. Sure people hate assassins in general, but I will get a holy crap once I go into action. Only downside is the skills are not fun to put together, and it is an all or nothing setup. You NEED assassin's promise as the skills require a Hex to be active. Hope you guys enjoy as much as I do.

Cheers

Since I started going normal assassin my build has been as follows:

[skill]Dark Prison[/skill][skill]Dash[/skill][skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill][skill]Jagged Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Impale[/skill][skill]Mending Touch[/skill]

Though since I've been in the Realm of Torment for quite some while now, Lightbringer's Gaze has become the permanent replacement for the last slot. That last, optional slot is also the placeholder for my Signet of Capture.

That has become standard for me.
I barely ever change it any more. I'll only bring out my old ID+ build if I'm sure I won't be facing any ench-strippers... and need to tank more than spike, which isn't often any more.

You're using to hexes, but you don't use any of the "black" offhands which are far superior to any lead attack.

That and not running rez is not a good idea.

Moebius death blossom spam is probably the best PvE assassin build at this moment.

Don't think I haven't tried it. I just prefer to go with what works.
Dark Prison only lasts 6 seconds, and at 10 energy is something I tend to use only if I have to.
More to the point though... If you'd had Assassin's Promise interrupted / removed as frequently as I do, you'd know that sticking to attacks with naturally short recharge is a safer tactic for those times when AP isn't available (interrupt / hex removal / rangers with block-skills). Furthermore, both blackline off-hands cost 10 energy to use... and I frequently have exactly 5 energy left when I reach the enemy... and find myself just running even until I kill them.
So to sum THAT bit up... I like to still be capable when incapacitated... and to use cheap attacks so I can stream them off without having to raw-wail inbetween to get my energy back... AP just quickens the whole process massively.

Quote: That and not running rez is not a good idea. I'm not a PvP Assassin. I'm a PvE Assassin. The two monks of the party can res, and even Olias has Rebirth. Since I'm the only character right in the middle of the fray (the rest are always spellcasters), odds are that I'm the one in the worst position to be resurrecting anyone.
Besides... what would I swap out for it? Dash? Puh-lease... ¬_¬

I do have an alternative Moebius-based build... and it works sometimes, but it isn't as fun to use when the enemies die quickly and I never even get to use it (plus there is the little matter of having no "bamf" to get from one Water Elementalist to the next, let alone the energy to pull such a thing off).

a build that i personally run for pvp that is quite successful is as followed...

Golden Lotus Strike
Leaping Mantis Strike
Fox Fangs
Blades of Steel
Balanced Stance
Healing Signet
Shroud of Distress
Death's charge

I cast SoD and then Death's Charge then Balanced Stance and begin to click in order through the skills until Blades of Steel. Use Healing Signet when needed. Balanced stance is so that you arent knocked down which can easily lead to the death of a sin. Balanced Stance is Particularly helpful in 1v1 against sins who use ox horns and knockdown skills.

Attributes are:
Dagger Mastery -- 15 or 16
Tactics -- Get it to as high as possible
Shadow Mastery -- Use as many points as you chose

Soti I'm sorry here, but I think those critics might be right. Assassin's Promise/Dark Prison for no purpose other than a fast recharging shadow step seems a bit pointless when it doesn't affect anythin else in the build. The combo is quick recharging and low energy, and I'm sure it does enough damage to kill enemies. The only part I don't like is the AP/DP start. You could easily just use AoD and maybe Expose or Siphon Speed that way you have a way out as well as in. About the res signet I kind of agree with you, since I rarely carry my own res in pve. Assassin's builds are normally made to kill enemies with a few slots to protect themselves, not much room to res everyone else too. And moebius death blossom is great, although not always the best. Even if moebius doesn't recharge the skills, that and death blossom are both 2 second recharges, and the rest of the skills in the combo shouldn't be more than 6 or 8 seconds. I always vary my PvE play between an Assassin's Promise spiker and a Moebius Blossom nuker, and both are fantastic builds.

Since BOA was nerfed:

1. Assassin's Promis
2. Lightning Reflexes
3. Dark Prison
4. Black Lotus Strike
5. Horns of the Ox
6. Black Spider Strike
7. Blades of Steel
8. Impale

I use +5 energy, zealous, +30 hp daggers. With shrouded armor, energy is not an issue. LR gives defense and speed where Tiger's just gives speed.

@ Soti:
I have to agree with your critics. The whole point of running Assassin's Promise is to be able to spam attack chains that normally have long recharge times. If hex removal is a problem, then you probably need to run another build in areas with hex removal. Quite honestly, there is no need for a elite spot to recharge skills that recharge themselves faster than you can switch targets. If you are using AP for energy management, then you need to take your attributes out of Deadly Arts and put them into Crit Strikes.

Moebius builds may not always be able to be finished before your enemy dies, but you can counter this in a couple ways. Either go with only an offhand before your dual, go off target (which you really should be doing anyways as an assassin) to make sure your team doesn't spike what you are attacking, or use an IAS like Flurry to be able to put in more attacks before your team kills your target. If nothing else, Moebius is pwnage when you get to a boss since it allows constant dual attack spam.

To get back on topic, here are a couple 'sin builds I've had fun with lately:

[skill]Golden Fox Strike[/skill][skill]Wild Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill][skill]Flurry[/skill][skill]Death's Retreat[/skill][skill]Dash[/skill] or rez sig
This is the moebius build I use in PvE. Whenever I'm in a team setting, I really prefer Death's Retreat over something like Shadow's Refuge or Feigned Nutrality since it's just enough to save you. Running a full heal is usually a waste if you have a monk in your group from my experience. Critical Defenses is a good skill to put in the build as well, but frequent enchant stripping tends to make me leave that one at home.

[skill]Death's Charge[/skill](or rez)[skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill][skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill][skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Blades of Steel[/skill][skill]Death's Retreat[/skill]

for RA lately, I've played around with this build, just for kicks:

[skill]Shadow Walk[/skill] or [skill]Conjure Flame[/skill][skill]Mark of Rodgort[/skill][skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill][skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]Death's Retreat[/skill]Rez sig

I don't think this is better than your standard Shadow Prison + IAS spike build, but it's a nice changeup that deals some good damage when pulled off.

in AB at least, my usual

[skill]Siphon Speed[/skill][skill]Expose Defenses[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Strike[/skill][skill]Critical Defenses[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill]

[skill]Parasitic Bond[/skill][skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill][skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill][skill]Moebius Strike[/skill][skill]Death Blossom[/skill]

lots of flexibility. I bring Mending Touch if Blind is a big problem, and usually I have Shadows Refuge and Critical Eye. Sometimes I bring Rebirth or some type of res, depends on how I feel >_> The alternate attacks of course depend on the build

*is boring, but gets the job done* xD

I really like playing Assassin in Elona, theres just too much spiking damage in Canthan missions.

I know better variants of this have been posted already, but the build my 'sin is using now is:

[skill]Palm Strike[/skill][skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill][skill]Falling Spider[/skill][skill]Iron Palm[/skill][skill]Entangling Asp[/skill][skill]Signet of Toxic Shock[/skill][skill]Shadow Refuge[/skill][skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

The problem with 90% of all the other "PvE" assassin builds out there is they all use Moebius Strike... Yet it's an elite that you must cap way down past the Vasburg armory. Good luck finding a group that wants an Assassin in Nahpui Quarter or Tahnnakai Temple if you don't have a build that can survive without Moebius Strike. Palm Strike is a fairly easy skill to cap (aside from killing Kenshi...he's a tough bastard.) so that's why I use it instead.

The deadly arts are really under appreciated IMO.

Main 4v4 variant of Moebius sin

[skill]Siphon Speed[/skill] [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] [skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill] [skill]Flurry[/skill] [skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Example GvG variant.

[skill]Leaping Mantis Sting[/skill] [skill]Exhausting Assault[/skill] [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]"Fear Me!"[/skill] [skill]"Watch yourself!"[/skill] [skill]Flurry[/skill] [skill]Dash[/skill]

One relatively resilient pve variant of above, Moebius-blossom fails with the energy management from crit strike or eye in end game.

[skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill] [skill]Critical Strike[/skill] [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Conviction[/skill] [skill]Mystic Regeneration[/skill] [skill]Critical Defenses[/skill] [skill]Vital Boon[/skill]

I really prefer to play Moebius in pve as an r-a, particularly as enemy levels starts to rise.

[skill]Jagged Strike[/skill] [skill]Wild Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Moebius Strike[/skill] [skill]Tiger's Fury[/skill] [skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill] [skill]Throw Dirt[/skill] [skill]Apply Poison[/skill]

Generally this my preferred variant of everyone's favourite shadow prison build

[skill]Shadow Prison[/skill] [skill]Tiger Stance[/skill] [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill] [skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill] [skill]Blades of Steel[/skill] [skill]Impale[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

The Pve AP equivalent. This represents the top of the scale in terms of spike damage, short of beginning with unsuspecting strike.

[skill]Assassin's Promise[/skill] [skill]Lightning Reflexes[/skill] [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill] [skill]Blades of Steel[/skill] [skill]Impale[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Have been meaning to run 4 of these in TA for a while.

[skill]Dancing Daggers[/skill] [skill]Entangling Asp[/skill] [skill]Augury of Death[/skill] [skill]Signet of Toxic Shock[/skill] [skill]Deadly Paradox[/skill] [skill]Feigned Neutrality[/skill] [skill]Heart of Shadow[/skill] [skill]Shadow Form[/skill]

Perma SF tank for organised pve. Use with a renewal nuker.

[skill]Golden Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Wild Strike[/skill] [skill]Death Blossom[/skill] [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Deadly Paradox[/skill] [skill]Arcane Mimicry[/skill] [skill]Arcane Echo[/skill] [skill]Shadow Form[/skill]

RA build, slot 7 optional (shroud+spell is hardly ideal).

[skill]Siphon Speed[/skill] [skill]Shroud of Silence[/skill] [skill]Black Lotus Strike[/skill] [skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill] [skill]Black Spider Strike[/skill] [skill]Blades of Steel[/skill] [skill]Restful Breeze[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

A couple of attempts to use less common elites.

[skill]Beguiling Haze[/skill] [skill]Tiger Stance[/skill] [skill]Golden Phoenix Strike[/skill] [skill]Horns of the Ox[/skill] [skill]Falling Spider[/skill] [skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill] [skill]Way of the Lotus[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Yes, I'm a big fan of the Shadow Walk/Dash combo =)

I used to use Temple Strike very often before SP/BoA, but it fell out of use for me since then. I love Temple Strike because it is versatile in use against casters and meleers, so I decided to mess around with it again the other day, and here is what I came up with:

[skill]Expose Defenses[/skill] [skill]Shadow Walk[/skill] [skill]Black Mantis Thrust[/skill] [skill]Temple Strike[/skill] [skill]Twisting Fangs[/skill] [skill]Natural Healing[/skill] [skill]Dash[/skill] [skill]Resurrection Signet[/skill]

Dagger Mastery: 15 (11+1+3)
Critical Strikes: 13 (11+2)
Deadly Arts: 6 (5+1)
Wind Prayers: 7

Equipment:
Full Shrouded/Radiant armor; 1 Attunement rune; Superior Vigor; Zealous, +5 Energy, +30 Health daggers.
This gives a total of 40 energy, which is capable of unleashing the full combo without pause, spamming BMT for damage and cripple, and having leftover energy to use Natural Healing and Dash. 35 energy can handle the bar as well, but most of the time you will need at least a few swipes to get energy before using Twisting Fangs.

Usage:
Playing the class properly is most important and something that mainly can only be learned through experience. If you don't know who to target, and when, then you will suck no matter what. That said, I'll just explain why I like this so much.

Expose Defenses opens up your target, Shadow Walk takes you right to them, and BMT cripples a hexed target, providing you with a snare to land TS, TF, BMT again, and continue with normal attacks to interrupt and kill the target. Without a speed buff (because of Shadow Walk), BMT is a very important skill. Even if ED gets stripped, BMT can still be used to start the combo, sans cripple. Natural Healing is the strongest immediate-heal skill for the attribute point investment, and doesn't conflict with Shadow Walk. So, after the first combo, you can heal and have time to re-hex somebody and start the combo over again.

Since Temple Strike is focused more on disabling than killing, this build is really at its best when you have at least one other halfway competent team member. Playing in RA, this is a gamble, but fun as hell. I won my first 20-win RA/TA streak, and many easy gladiator points so far, with this build.

If you're not splitting, you need a res sig, and if you're splitting, you need a heal... Like I said, it's one variant. Talking about a specific build without the context of the gvg build doesn't make much sense. I think the context of this variant is 2 paragons (signet of return) in addition to 2 res sigs. Here it was clearly decided that the assassin would benefit from the freed up skill slot more than an alternative player.

Fairly common example of a gvg build with no res/self heal, shadow prison builds who are expected to take out solo gankers will also have no self heal or res, expose is needed instead. Often they will be supported by the flagrunner who will have the necessary heals.

True about the shadow prisoners, but clearly this build can't do that.
Oh well...personal preference&a lot of trust in your monks I guess..

It's not a matter of trust trust. If you're being spiked, you don't hit healing signet. You switch to your 15/-5 furious +30 health spear and +30 health shield set. Often you will be able to use dash to save yourself. Basically, dash does more for your survival than healing signet, feigned neutrality or shadow refuge, you're making things easier for your monks than otherwise. And yeah personal preference has nothing to do with it, it's one facet of a team build.
