I have noticed that my heroes will stand around and take a beating from enemies without trying to escape. This is true even when I set them to flee combat. The thing is, they go up to the front of the battle and do this. Is anyone else having this kind of problem?

yes, since the update that said AI doesnt kite as often and as long as before... seems like our heroes AI was also affected, oh well.

ANet somehow borked hero AI with the release of hard mode.
I'm finding that heroes stick to me like glue. Not good when I'm a warrior and they're squishy.
They also stand in AoE, while the enemy is incredibly intetlligent about kiting away from AoE.
It's getting seriously irritating now, but I suspect it was done on purpose in order to force us to play with others.
At least it's getting to the stage where me and my friend are seriously considering ditching the heroes for PUGs.

Taking a break now after having tried to do the Frost Gate bonus and getting our arses handed to us by those 4 sodding Dolyaks and their Stone Summit Axe buddies.

Got to say I have noticed this as well. I hate being in an area where you only have 4 max party members, and you need each of them to perform well, and Koss is either just standing around or getting beat on. Dunkoro and all the others do the same. They are near death and they still just stand there. Meanwhile the enemy spreads out, runs off if needed. Henchies do the same as heroes. They prefer to die than live. I hate it.

well this is just conspieracy theory but maaaybe they did that on purpose to force people to pug for randomly useless things that people would muuuch rather do with heroes. but then again ive noticed almost every time they do an AI update or just a really really big update heroes/henchies AI gets all jacked up in the process.

It's hard to imagine their new behavior being intentional... it's really bad. No defensive positioning at all... the oldest version of henchman probably behaved better than this.

Yes, I noticed the same AI issues as above seems like with each update the hero/hench AI gets dumber and dumber

There's already a thread like this, but since it was moved to the Heros and AI section, nobody reads it.

I'm getting pretty ticked with the hero AI. Flagging occasionally helps, but there are times where Zhed likes to kamikaze into a hurdle of beasties.

actually i really think its just a bug, im sure that making hero/henchies thaaat dumb would be just flat out retarded....i could already smell the ragequits. but yeah the last couple of times theyve either buffed enemy AI or just changed it in any way, henchie AI went to the crapper for a couple days or so. everyone post in this thread...tell your friends neighbors and that homeless guy that pee's in your lawn so gaile or someone in the dev team notices! i usually have too many problems getting through the support site to even report something so this is my last option. i tried asking gaile last time she was in kamadan but of course people complaining about the farming "nerf" kinda out numbered mine lol

The only hero I've seen actually try to kite damage is Koss. A charr stalker's ignite arrows will make run away after 2 hits. Of course, him running from the AoE causes any warriors he was tanking to change target. Same ranger hitting Tahlkora...she just stands there and takes it, without even trying to self heal till she is down to 20hp.

On the other hand, the enemy monks will kite if you just look at them. Charr and undead monks usually ended up standing back behind my caster line before taking a single hit. And if I move towards them (on my ele) they will run away from me, even if they aren't targeted.

Seems like the AIs for both sides are back to how they were when Nightfall was first released. Our hero casters are fearless tanks, and enemy monks are track stars(now with cybernetic speed hack!).

Can't do sweet FA with heroes/henchmen in hard mode. They just stand around and die. Try taking Alesia, she just tanks in, aggros everything and dies!

I've noticed what seem to be 2 separate issues. 1 is that the heroes no longer kite. 2 is that occasionally when you flag them, they run well out of their flag range for seemingly no apparent reason. I've seen it happening most frequently with Tahlkora, but all of them do it.

Aggro broke from the warrior. They ran straight past him to Tahlkora, despite the fact that we were flagged a good aggro bubble and a half away. She decided she didn't want to kite.

She was flagged here, actually behind where I was standing with my heroes. For some unknown reason (she wasn't being attacked), she ran past the warrior and just stood there just past the ettins.

This is like the message Gaile posted about how everything we love (ectos, greens, etc.) are excluded from loot scaling. Nobody pays attention to it, but I'll post it right here:

Hero/Hench AI is NOT weak.

IT'S NONEXISTANT. PERIOD.

I managed to vanquish one area with henchies. Also, that's with us being at 60DP and dying after every 2 enemies near the end. It's also with us being in Griffon's mouth, perhaps the smallest area in Tyria. Still had trouble with it.

Only way to beat HM is with other players.

I dunno, I think my heros are doing just fine. Thus far i've vanquished 13 areas in elona with just Hench/Heros.
