traveling to elona

Sophitia Leafblade
Well basically they went there because their adventurous and they hadn't been there before (exploring) and when they arrived they found Elona in troubles and like good heros stayed until it was all sorted.

The reason why they did it isn't that importaint. The reason HOW is a little more. Nightfall takes place 3 years AFTER the twin events of Prophecies and Factions.
Sophitia Leafblade
The ship just took a long time to get there 3 year cruise hehe

Let's take a look at Cantha:
Hero is Born
Hero is Trained by a great Master
Hero reaches a Big City
Hero finds the problem is worse then they thought
Hero gets sidetracked saving it's own continent, and decided to go off exploring instead.
Hero finds problems in new continent
Hero flits between continents saving people and slaying monsters.
Hero learns the ancient art of "Multi-tasking".
Hero Vanquishes ALL evil (yet to this day is still annoyed that they had to kill Shiro twice)

Eldin
You see, we kill the Lich in Prophecies and are like "YAY! BIG PARTY!".
Then, after the party, we get news of Elona.
"Greens!"
"New farming spots!"
"More stuff to pound into applesauce!"
"Hugely overpowered new professions!"
So, getting bored of B/P in tombs, we go over there.
Actually, Devona, Cynn, Aidan, and Mhenlo go everywhere, and we need to tag along just for continuity. (Anyone else get annoyed how you lead them to the Ascalon Settlement, then they dump you until that Crystal Desert quest and act like they've been with you all along?)

Well they only briefly see u in the dessert, where they really join us is in Thunderhead Keep where they are finally available as henchmen.

the route back is faster
Back to sensibility:
By my estimations (ignoring the cutscene at the very start) the point where u can cross campaigns is all the same time frame, after that the time frames break up. Tryia and Elona occur at the same time, However the there is a large time frame where the Sunspears gather there resources attack the Kournas and then another long period they hide in the sanctuary (a several year period) so by the time u complete Abaddons Gate it is indeed 3 years after of the events tryia and Elona.
One of the reasons for this is the fact events up to LA, Kaineng and Kamadan are proclaimed as having already happened (as seen why a non indigious char attempts missions earlier) however Eloan chars who go to LA dont get this message from LA onwards missions etc. meaning those events havnt occurred yet (despite the 1st Elona cutscene claiming its 3 years ahead)
This intersection is when the heros choose to go down a pathway to save a continent, and head off on ship to Elona, Cantha etc. (or stay where they are)
