I managed to sell all my ectos at 8k ea.
I hope that's good.

Hard modes means they drop more often. Plus with the new scrolls America can have access even when they don't have favor.

The update on friday made it so that when you solo farmed you got 1/8th of the drops you got before, including ecto. Everyone started buying ecto's when they knew that while it was still cheap because it was certain they would increase in price dramaticly since in essence solo farming had no more use (since no matter how many people you were with in a group you got drops as if you were with a full group) and thus ecto prices rose by the hour (quit litterally, when I went off they were at 13k and I think it went up a bit still after that)
The follow-up update made so that green drops, rare drops, rare material drops (including ecto) and several other types returned to their normal drop rates, and in normal mode the AI was decreased so enemies scatter only at very high damage (the VwK W/Rt build they don't scatter at all any more) so farming UW has become twice as fast as before the update for a good number of commen builds, so ecto prices have dropped under what they first were.

Umm.. just check a Rare Material Trader for price, and then sell for 500gp-1k less. Buy for 1.5k less if you manage it. No need to wait for forum posts.

if a permanent ecto-price drop of 1-2k would happen, it would screw up the whole gw-economy. imo, they won't drop. only rise.

they will drop.. they went up coz ppl panicked, started dropping a lot in uw, dropped down, ppl started buying, went up, now they are dropping down because the buying is starting to subside.
in the long run theyll drop down imho.. used to be 6k a long time ago, i see them getting 7k soon enough

As for as remeber, I've always bought and sold ectoes for 8.5k, always. I hope they will fall, like this I can have my fow faster xD And yea, I'd be pleased to see all the GW economy be screwed up as, atm, it's simply "lot of laugh"

I think the price will drop more so get used to it.
Farming for money and noramal mercnant items is dead.
People are going to move into ecto farming since ectos are not affected by the loot changes.
Bots will hit the UW to farm ectos to get their money.
Good thing that you sold your ectos.
Time to find some other means of storing gold

Yeh thats true, just sold some ectos at 7.9k ea when trader was 8k ^^
I have 150 shards atm, seeing they are always ~3k, lots of buyers, no sellers, and farming fow is a bit harder?

Ectos are a self regulating (to a degree) form of currency. The farmers, the ones who get it, don't want to sell it for too cheap a price, so they, as a collective (but not through collusion, just general self interest) will try to keep the ecto price up. Since it is, not easier, but more common to get ectos now, many would be buyers might go to the UW as a means of getting their own ectos and an increase of ectos in the system would be the result.

Ecto prices are declining in general, but in terms of if you want to make a bit more money, sell to players. They often buy them for less than the trader would sell to them for, but for more than the trader would buy from a person for. (Not too hard to find people buying ectos, look in ToA or LA)
Took me 5 days to farm my 15k armor, and that was before the farming code was implemented, and before Ettins were nerfed. To me I will never get FoW, and 15k is enough of an achievement.

And to be on-topic: The ecto price will become stable again as the new farmers get into it and get used to the new drop rate. It will take a while, though.

Btw, there are much more ectos then gemstones, gemstones are hard to sell.

ok i have a question about the ectos too. in hard mode is it still possible to 55 the aataxes or what and what lvl r they? and the ectos go up in price when people buy from other people the longer time period when someone doesnt buy an ecto from a trader the more i t goes up. btw help me encourage people to buy form people bcuz i solo farm UW and i hate having to sell them for only 8k ea, wereas i could be selling them at 9.5k or so. i remember when i sold them for 11k ea... i was a very very rivh man... (ign joe mommas)
