A question about hard mode

I havent played for couple of months, and now i see there are game modes, hard normal etc., could someone explain this to me please?

Last week we got a New Mode that you can gain once you've beaten a campaign.

It was brought so that those who have beaten the game can do it again at a harder difficulty hopefully keeping them to Guild Wars longer.
