Byzz Wingmender Farming in Hard Mode
Mark Nevermiss
I hope I am not repeating someone else's idea. Anyway, I thought I'd share this build that works perfectly for farming the aforementioned boss. In contrast to normal mode, this monk boss uses healing breeze which this build counters.
Whats in it for you?
The chance to get this:
Where is the boss located?
Where to stand:
The build and attribute points:
The build code: OAVEMWJ2e8kHODChxAboq+AEDA
[skill]spiteful spirit[/skill][skill]price of failure[/skill][skill]spirit shackles[/skill][skill]parasitic bond[/skill][skill]suffering[/skill][skill]signet of lost souls[/skill][skill]mantra of inscriptions[/skill][skill]consume corpse[/skill]
Usage:
Commence by casting Spirit Shackles, wait for it to expire then cast it again followed by SS+PoF+PB+Suffering. Since you are standing behind a wall Pricwe of Failure should work everytime Whenever any of these hexes expires renew it. Right before its hp gets to the 50% mark cast Mantra of Inscriptions and spam SoLS as often as you want.
Consume corpse is there for the convenience of collecting drops before the pop up group aggroes you.
Good hunting!

Nice build!
Thanks for sharing. I've been using a similar build, but it didn't work in Hard Mode.

spirit of failure should give you more energy
reckless haste too

Don't need reckless haste in HM, I think. Spirit of Failure is a good idea though

What is the risk on this farming build?
And which Runes do you need?
I know the boss you're talking about... and I know the swarm that forms around him when you come close...
But you almost make it seem as though you can get away with not taking any damage at all until the point where you need to loot the corpse... o_0;
Is this so?
If this turns out to be as low-risk as it seems then I'll be farming this one to death! My necro, coincidentally enough, is already in position in Lutgardis. She has Curses 16 at present... and an extra something for Soul Reaping if I rightly recall...

farmed this guy about ~10 times in HM didnt even get 1 drop :S
FoxBat
I would try swapping the degen and soul reaping out for spirit of failure as mentioned, but also put that SR into Domination for empathy and ignorance. A Mesmer primary might do the job as well or better in that case. (Efficient Mesmer farming? Blasphemy!)
SotiCoto
Would Malaise do any good here or would it be too limiting as a one-off?
Mark Nevermiss
u can just swap the mantra for the spirit of failure and u can even get away without the degen
and the risk in this farm = 0
success rate = 100%
drops according to luck, but so are all bosses
run is done in under 2 minutes

Very, very nice. I think i'm going to try this tonight with my SS hero. Thanks for the inspiration ^_^
ShadowbaneX
I gave this a try, works well, but could work better. Since there's no 'other ally' around, he can't use his elite, so no Hex removal, so I just use this build
OAVDMMNHL5xZI0vBMIEkhYA
[skill]Spiteful Spirit[/skill][skill]Price of Failure[/skill][skill]Reckless Haste[/skill][skill]Awaken the Blood[/skill][skill]Spirit of Failure[/skill][skill]Spirit Shackles[/skill][skill]Soul Barbs[/skill][skill]Consume Corpse[/skill]. Minor alteration, but since you've got more then enough energy from Spirit of Failure, and can just spam hexes...and if you're going to do that Awaken the Blood and Soul Barbs will just make him go down all the quicker.
So far I haven't gotten too much of not, just some gold and a Scroll to the Underworld.

yeah nice i tried this with 12 inspiration 16 curses 4 blood switched to awaken the blood ss suffering reckless, shackles, price and spirit of failure and necrotic traversal works pretty well
Zolderick
55hp necro with Spoil Victor kills the boss quickly
Ishana
Slightly faster Code
OAVEI2YEf6oCPDCtRAMQIQGEDA
105 or 55 build
but please swap armour if there is more than 2 loots
================================================== =
this wall trick can be done on almost every monk boss as well
i did this with hahan/ssun *sigent of ignorance*
just need to find a good angle to dogde his wanding ~

Malaise does work!
What is more... Malaise is severely spammable on this guy with the shackles in place ^_^ ... and with Soul Barbs in place too, he drops obscenely fast!

no....... my money..... lol. not the build i use but the others posted work just as well. not like killing a monk boss endlessly wanding the wall is hard, but gj for creativeness. i'm guessing now would be a good time to unload the monk tomes and greens i have stockpiled....

Very nice ! Thanks
Scary Raebbit
Very easy with R/Me as well.
Don't know if it clears it as fast as an SS.
Basic Famine/Spirit Shackles/at least 1 Mind Wrack will kill it around 3 minutes, additional skills can lower it to two.

Hi all
Here is my "home build" for this Boss, it works well in Normal/Hard mode.
I'm Me/N, but it works a lot with a N/Me too :P
Spirit Shackles is useless against this boss, He uses a signet of rejuvenation to heal himself, so I take Ignorance. In hard mode he uses Healing breeze, but this is not a problem
Enjoy
EDIT : 30 seconds for the run, 30 seconds for the Boss ^^

Forget ss. 7/8 mesmer skills ftw.
Dragonious
Lol, just got a ruby after getting all three rare scrolls and a green but no tomes so far. >.<
clawofcrimson
BTW you can do this with a henchi if you aren't a necro/mesmer... just take master of whispers.. I got my elite monk tome that way.
Lord Oranos
Been doing 189dmg/s to him with SV, Empathy, and Price of Failure.
Gotta feeling this is going to be nerfed.

Only 3 skills you need, and class can go /N and do it (maybe not warriors and paragons because of their 2 energy regen.)

Knocked it down to around 40 seconds with a 20 second run I estimate. (Storm Chaser blinks away before I can cast my first spell).

Ty nice quick farm
edit: I've done about 20~25 runs now, haven't had 1 green, only 1 gold scroll and about 300g.
Wonder how this even can be nerfed.

Scary can you post the build you use for this. My ranger is the only character that I have near this place.
Thanks,
Krat
Thanks,

Freneticweasel
I think that Spoil victor is much faster, 100~ damage per attack/spell

I did just Spirit Shackles, Spirit of Failure, Empathy, Mind Wrack, Wastrel's Demise, Diversion (Don't have Ignorance on my Ranger, otherwise could go with two less Sigs of Rejuv, also a 1k expense, so I would highly suggest that over Diversion), Famine, Storm Chaser.
Max WS
12 Inspiration (which is a 3 energy per miss on SoF allowing you to spam spells)
Rest into Domination.
I just happened to have a Mindclouder so I use that.
Zone out, Storm Chaser out to the wall, cast a quick spell on Byzzr so he doesn't pull back from that blocking wall, forcing you to endanger yourself with the patrolling mob and moving closer, taking up time. Cast Famine, cast Spirit Shackles, SoF, Empathy, Wastrel's Demise, Mind Wrack, cast any recharging spell(s) (while casting your spell(s) Byzzr should cast a Sig of Rejuv) then cast Diversion. Div is a 3 second cast and if you just casted a 1 second spell with a 0.75 second after cast, you can squeeze in a Div just right before the Sig recharged in 8 seconds. I assume it's a little bit faster with Ignorance, but since I'm playing the "AFK in a Ring game" I haven't really tried.
Once the boss dies, target most valuable drop (obviously), SC over, pick it up and others. Watch out for the patrol by Byzzr which might or might not contain a Crip Anguish Mesmer.
I did try lowering Inspiration to a 2 energy SoF on hit, but I felt like I was running low on energy, as I actually triggered Famine on myself once.

Hardly useless. He doesn't use his signet too often, and the amount of damage that can be done to him in the meanwhile more than makes up for it.
Not only that, but I discovered that with Spirit Shackles and Soul Barbs on him, I can spam Malaise for around 80 to 90 damage every two seconds on him, quite aside from what he does to himself with Price of Failure and Spiteful Spirit.
I mean... all well and good for the people who use Spoil Victor, but I never much liked that it was in the Blood Magic line when all the better non-elite hexes are in Curses.

The Byzzr's Benidiction green is almost impossible to sell, but this is one of the best ways I know of to get a elite Monk tome. Anyone willing to buy 10 green monk offhands per day?
Note: I like ShadowbaneX's build the best.

But really... I didn't notice any difference using Reckless Haste on them. It was as though it doesn't stack with their existing attack-speed boost... so I stopped using it.
I guess I'm still the only one using Malaise with Soul Barbs to spam-spike him. ^_^;

Here's a monk variation:
Drops are pretty bad to be honest. I got the drops shown in exactly 1 hour. Considering the only real worthwhile thing is the black dye I'd say this guy drops pretty terrible. I'll give it another hour to see if I get anything else though....BUT you can't count on him dropping black dyes to make this run worthwhile (Black Dyes are probably the rarest drop I/G).
Also I brought two Heroes and loaded them both with 12 Tactics and Charge. This speeds up the run from ~30 seconds to ~20 seconds. I immediately Charge once into the zone, hit the 2nd charge(after the 1st wears off), and then flag the heroes back near the portal(you can do all this while running). By the time the 2nd Charge wears off you are at the wall next to the boss and the heroes will be greyed out back by the portal.
This build kills him in less than 25 seconds every time. Just cast 1-6 on him and he'll go down fast. You have to reapply SV but he dies within 3-5 seconds after the second SV cast. Then use PS and Consume Corpse to grab your drops. The pop up mobs never even hit me (even with 3 drops) before I can /resign.
Oh and if you haven't figured it out it's obviously a 55hp monk build and I'm doing it in Hard Mode.
Nice little farm, but I think you can do better elsewhere.
