Anyway, just out of curiosity, has anybody been getting any cupcake drops? I was out running around with a guildie in a few areas and neither of us had any drop. So, just wondering about the success of others.

they start droping the 28th, i though it was now, but after reading the site again, its tommarow, so ya when the first set of fireworks goes off like viper said they should start droping, but you can get them from the boardwalk and tokens right now.

Usually, the special event drops start at noon on Friday, so we were surprised they didn't start dropping then this time. Oh well! Plenty of other stuff to do until they start dropping! /gamble

All weekend events have been starting the 12:01 pdt on Fridays

according to a similar thread on gwo, Gaile has said in chat that a new build will come soon that will add them as drops.

As of 3:00 A.M. EST, I was receiving cupcake drops, but I wasn't overly impressed. I had some rather mediocre returns from traditional farming locations (e.g. Nolani). I think I farmed 20 cupcakes in a hour, if that?

cupcakes would appear to be part of loot scaling as drop rates when soloing are indeed very low.

I got 2 drops last night. Also saw players selling them for 800 or 900 gold each.

They aren't part of loot scaling. My experience is that cupcakes are dropped about as often as bunnies or eggs dropped last easter. Also, the update explicitly states that special event items are exempt from loot scaling. Also, the prices for cupcakes have stabilized, for now, around 400 gold, and I'd expect them to drop lower over the next few hours.

I would retort, then, that I also have yet to perceive a difference in the drop rate of cupcakes versus any other event item that I've tried to farm. If there is a scaling effect, it is relatively small.
Edit: Tell you what, I'll upload the results from twenty Charr-bashing incidents (or until anti-farming code kicks in) at Nolani Academy to my webspace, and I'll let you use that sample to decide whether or not a loot scaling effect exists or not.

I don't think they're scaled. They're dropping for me as fast as the 4-leaf clovers, eggs, and bunnies dropped.
I'm just happy that they're extending the drop time until midnight Monday.

I did a couple farming runs and while I have no proof of whether cupcakes are part of loot scaling I only received one on each run so I just assumed they were also scaled down, but I could be wrong. I saw one person trying to sell cupcakes for 1.5k last night. Not sure if he was getting any bites, but that's the highest I saw them going for.
I'd just like to say cupcakes are about the coolest event item I've seen. All this talk is getting me hungry now. Mmmmm....cupcakes.
