I belong to a guild of former NWN role players. We love GW and found the story is an excellent backbone to role play around. However, we can not always play at the same time, and often break up into seperate groups. We would like to compile all of the conversations had in a log we can post and read.

This could also serve as 'evidence' for reports of abusive language and treatment, or other offensive conduct.

A chat logger that dumps a log of all messages that come through the chat window would be very useful. In a perfect world the log would write out whatever channels you had active in your chat window, including emotes. A simple basic chat log - thats what I request.

Simple, effective, useful, what more could we ask for?

Ressurecting an old thread, as it's a good idea.

Myself and a few of my friends often bemoan the lack of a text file chat log stored locally. Not for any reason of using them as evidence in a complaint, more because it would be nice to have an easily accesible log of your chats for things like posting transcripts of an amusing roleplay your guild or alliance did, or just an amusing chat. Taking a screenshot is not much help in this respect, as interrupting a roleplay with "hang on, just need to screenshot before it all vanishes" would make rather a mess of the feel of the RP. I'm also pretty sure that it's a fairly simple feature to implement, as I have seen it done in even MMOs coded by amatuers in their spare time, also a simple toggle in the options would allow you to chose which channels are or are not logged, allowing them to be turned off when not needed.

Would so greatfully help with people simply coming on GW to cause trouble rather than have fun in a somewhat friendly environment. I also like to read something on a later note when I'm too busy doing something else that I missed, such as guild conversations, etc.

I agree with the idea... just save it in a .txt format to a log folder.
