Skill Tomes when you already have the skill.

In Prophecies there are a lot of Skill quests, doable by foreign characters, only the profession specific skill quests, only available for characters of that region.

What I suggest is that, for all those skill quests available to all characters, when there is no skill for your primary or secondary or when you already have the given skill, you are given an skill tome for your profession instead.

For example, let's take the first skill quests foreign characters can do:

If are a M/H and you don't have Dwayna's Kiss or Mantra of Lightning, you'll get those.

But if you have them, you'll get a Monk Tome and a Mesmer Tome.
If you are a D/Rt, you'll get a Dervish Tome and a Ritualist tome, again.

Tomes are worth 500g (and any way you'll sell them for less than 1k), but skills got with skill quests would be 1000k saved for you. So even if people turned changed secondary to get tomes instead of skills, they won't save much money, but will get rewards otherwise they would never get. So people would have a reasn again to do those quests.

yea that sounds good but im sure others will grief about something or another lol.... but yea if you already have the skills then there is no reason to do the quest this will give ya a reason

People can just buy the skill(s) in the quest, buy the skill they really want in PvP, do the quest and get a free upperlevel quest.

Nice idea Mithran. For those of us playing non tyrian chars this would be a great way to gain skill and to do more quests. Why not add more skill based quests as well which also give you tomes in places of reg skills. Then it solves the problem of getting stuck with skills you wont use and makes people happy because they can get skills they didnt have before. Maybe in hardmode we could get skill quests that give elite tomes.

Quest rewards in Prophecies are actually laughable and since hard mode some oh the quest rewards in Elona are not far behind in the ridicule stakes. In fact the measly 10 or 15 Lightbringer Point rewards have always been ludicrous. I agree that it would be nice if you do skill quest in Prophecies you get a skill for each of your professions, either update these quests for the foreign profession or give a skill tome.

Elonian quest rewards give like 3000xp, 150 gold minimum.

500 really is the equiv in tyria!

Actually Kaineng Quests give 3000 xp and 250 gold, Elonian Quest give 2000 xp for Vabbi and 2500 xp at the end quests. Kaineng is still the fastest way to raise a character to level 20 (plus his/her heroes).

This will encourage people to do quests rather than only mission.

Yeh, this would help with regular tome prices, which is a good idea.

But foreign classes will get no skills.

And not everyone know all the skills given that way to wait until they make the quest.

I do, I wait until I ake the quests and do not buy skills given in skill quests.
But D,P,Rt and A will get no skills for a primary profession.

You could say 'hey, but Tyrians are usually in lower lever than other characters', so quests shold give them more reward since they are harder for them'.
Yeah, but if you have Factions, you can get to Cantha at level 10, make quests until 20, and go back with high level in no time. And if you have Nightfall, you can get heroes, and ding, no difference. They will be easy for Tyrians too.

So, at te end, only matter the rewards given. And as they are they are mostly useless for many professions.

It's nice to give people a reason to make quests, a title, better rewards, etc...
