Multi-Continent Armor

Spread out 5 bosses around all of the different worlds.Make them only there in hard mode. Make them insanely hard, like lvl 40 or something. Surround them with difficult mobs. IE make them hard to beat for all but the most organized/skilled teams.(Similar to what you did with Rotscale but much harder)

When you kill each of them you automatically get a special "crafting" item that can not be traded. When you've collected all five you turn them in to some npc(maybe through a quest, maybe not) and recieve a unique armor set. Call it Conquerer's armor or something of the like. Make it like 15k armor priced.

Obsidian armor shows that you got wealth. This could show that you've been to the different continents and beaten the best they have to offer.(You could also just make this all part of a quest and do it that way. The bosses only appear if you have the quest and you have to illiminate all five for some npc to be willing to craft you the armor)

PS: even if this idea is no good you should still make some multi-continent armor set that is somehow very difficult to get. rather than just costing money and farming time. something that shows it took some skill/teamwork to get.

They need something in this game that shows true skill. This wouldn't take 7 hours to grind like DoA missions, it wouldn't take months to save up gold like FoW armor, it would simply take team organization and skill. Much like the Deep and Urgoz, but with lower duration and higher difficulty. Sounds good to me.

This is a neat idea, its still prestige but with meaning now. Not "I'm richer than you", its now "I got skills".

/signed, but its likely GWEN will be doing this since anyone with any of the previous campaigns can enter the tunnels.

This is armor i would be proud to have. Right now i wear what looks ok and was cheap. Screw FOW. Big deal someone can buy that with ebay gold. Skill based armor would be great. Bring it now or with GWEN i dont care but bring it please.

This seems like hero armour...but for players.. >>; Kill off a big enemy, find armour parts, trade for armour... But the 100% chance I like~ ~.~ I hated having to kill 100 of the same thing to try to get 1 piece and never get it.. >>; Then its no longer skill but annoyance...

/signed by the way. ~.~ But make it look nice... >>; And atleast have different variations, not just 1 type, that way everyone is happy. :. <Ex: Mesmer armour for females might come in short showy type to long conservative fancy type...>

i don't want to waste my time or money getting FOW. I'd rather do something like this, its much more fun and you feel much better. IMO if i did get FOW I'd feel like the worlds biggest loser, spending all that time for something that doesn't even exist, i mean at least have fun when u play games.

you know idk on this yes it seems cool and all but really i dont see too much of a need for it, really there is a ton of vanity items in GW as it is, 15k armors fow armor titles ect ect.

i guess this would be kinda cool but really im not jumping out of my seat about it

Yeah, but there's no single item out there that says, look at me i acomplished something really hard. I mean all the really kewl hard to get items are trade-able(urgoz's bow, doa items, zodiac stuff, ect, ect.) meaning they just show that you possibly have a lot of time to farm or you buy your money on ebay.

This would be an untradable mark of your skill, in the PvE universe. PvP gets those emotes for HoH, and cape stuff for top GvG. PvE should get something.

My two cents on the matter:

Obsidian armor isn't all just about wealth or "farming time". It shows the player's dedication to the game. Sure, it's a near fanatical level, but getting it takes a decent amount of skill.

You need to know what the values of items are worth. You need to play the market, farm the right spots, use the right build(s) to get the right loot and you need to understand how the game works to effectively use these tactics. You need to constantly do the same thing over again, no matter how annoying or boring it gets. A test of endurance, indeed.

I've known how to farm ectos and shards for some time now. I know the value of a good interrupter hero or henchmen, and my collection of personal builds has increased. I understand the game mechanics.

However, this all took time, so I feel this challenge would provide unnecessary frustration on players. It's hard enough finding a competent group to get into the Fissure of Woe to begin with. Those skeletons can rip you apart.

GREAT Idea, I love the idea of being able to prove 'ones' skills / teamwork abilities, without spamming an emote or having a title!

Armor that is obtained by ability rather than farmgrind, sure. Making it another 'higher stats = better AI' cop out, no.

some of us don't have the time to amass all of the gold and whatnot to get FoW armor, but something like this that would require planning and probably a few hours every weekend for a couple of weeks or something would be much more fun and much less grinding.

To those who vote no?
I can see voting down things that directly affect you, but taking the time to directly vote down something that is strictly voluntary?

The only reason i can see that anyone would wana vote this down is to protect the 'prestiege' of the FoW armor, which i have a set on my monk. Let me tell you it took 3 and 1/2 long months of hard farming and scrimping and saving. But other than not spendig my money, it was super easy to get. FoW is like childs play, yeah it was hard the at first when i was new to the game and didn't know how to do it. But now that i've completed the Forgemaster quest more times than i can count, i don't know, i just don't feel so proud of my fow any more. I want something that only the best pve players can get at. Not necisarily something that takes hours of endless devotion to the game.

lvl 40... ouch................................
That's gonna hurt lol.
Well, if they're going to be level 40, they shouldn't have any cheesy monster skills like Mallayx, Glint, or Kuunavang, and so on.

I would actually prefer a monster with improved AI, rather than (as with hard mode, Mallyx etc.) just the same old retarded AI with simplistic attack and casting speed buffs.

Improved AI is a totally different subject. The whole game needs better AI not just a handful of monsters.

The general idea of this particular thread is that there should be A. Some really hard PvE experience to defeat that is not overly time consuming. B armor as the reward for doing it, so that everyone would know you did it.

I actually....had an idea like this.

The Blackfire Guild. A powerful guild hell bent on finding powerful opponents.

The Blackfire Guild ROAMS the world of Guild Wars. They will appear randomly in a instanced, explorable Hardmode zone and challenge players.

The Blackfire will be high level, full parties, full skill bars and the zone will have no monsters.

If you can kill them, they will drop Blackfire armor drops or greens, which is your trophy for defeating them. These can be exchanged between characters, but not traded with other players.

The "look" of the blackfire armor is very dark with blue flames. So you would essentially have armor thats a giant IDS ^^

Im not against the idea but i have to say that once its been done a few times, cookie cutter builds will pop up and it will no longer be about skill. So if its to show someones skill then you are sadly mistaken.

Make very balance party for those boss's, 2 monk 2 mesmer, warrior with "shields up" ect...

A-net, dont be afraid to make strong enemy team that a very well balance and prepared for anything.

You have to move so it do not crush you. You can't just set a build and mash skills.

I very much like this idea. I would like nothing more than to have a high level quest like this added to Hard Mode with having to travel from continent to continent to hunt them down. It could even be implemented like the Glint/Titan quests but instead of the Titans, you have to hunt down certain members of an evil guild, say maybe given by Kormir if you know what I mean. Maybe even some renegade Ascalon's Chosen guild members who went nuts after Rurik was killed and after having been trapped in the RoT themselves.

The Verata order could be another one... they are are far from most outposts, they are a bother to kill and gather awesomely easily even with carefull aggroing.
