Did gate of madness mission last night and shiro came straight up to us and Lich didnt move at all, we killed shiro first no probs, then we went round capturing the altars to go for Masters.
The team got split up and eventually all killed by the Lich and his cronies, when i first did this mission i was in pug team that killed shiro first and then captured the altars then killed Lich and got masters.
But after last nights expert only mission we have a difference of opinion, my teammate says its impossible to kill Lich if you kill shiro first and im sure i was in team that did exactly that when i got my masters on it.
Can anyone confirm it is possible to kill Shiro first and then go on to kill Lich and get masters.

Generally if you are going for the master's its better to kill the Lich first and Shiro last. I was henching this mission on my 2nd ranger and HAD to kill Shiro first. Although I got master reward, I think it would have been much better to kill the Lich first if I could have.

It's possible, but so much easier to down the list first, because Shiro sort of sucks. When I did it on my monk, we ignored Shiro when we were capping. All in all it was pretty funny.

Ive done it 3 times on 3 different survivor chars with just heroes and henchies, the first two times, I lured shiro and lich near the door and pommeled the lich first while i had Olias spam enfeeble on shiro while everyone else focused on the lich, then u just run around capping shrines, after you kill the margonites in each shrine and the shrine still isnt capped, spam flag your henchies so they run around the shrine and not hit shiro. then cap all five, flag to center and pommel away, wild blow at 1/4 hp cause of his stance and hes dead.

The third time, I just lured shiro out of the door and just pommeled him, with lich left, I capped the shrines, the lichs aggro is less then shiros so when I capped shrines, I lost aggro of the lich and he just returned to the middle. I found it easier to do it this way since theres no shiro to bug you while u kill margonites

I kill Shiro first nearly all the time. Just hang out behind the arch in the doorway so the door obstructs The Lich's 300 damage orbs. Kill Shiro, and then back away so The Lich goes back to his spot.
Now just flag all your henchies/heroes to the Margonite Shrine, Lich will come up well into your aggro radius but he won't attack for some reason. He may throw out one or two wand hits but his second wand hit always goes for a different person than his first one went for. So he won't kill anyone.
When you reach the Margonite Shrine, The Lich will be back in his center hole.

The Lich hits much harder and its much harder to mitigate his damage thanks to the removal of enchantments. It's entirely plausible to kill Shiro first, but not advisable. The Lich is likely to hit people while your focusing on Shiro and kill them while your busy trying to drop Shiro. Slow resses, etc... all things will basically lead to The Lich killing people off, Shiro been wittled down then wiping an unexpecting team out with Impossible Odds.

If you kill Shiro first you can very easily get the lich stuck on the gate that you came in from. Just lead him up to the top and have a melee charcter stand on one of the sides of the gate on the outside, and the lich will just sit there and try to wand him If you have rangers/nukers or anyone with a wand/bow you can just kill him off from far away. I posted this in the game bugs section, but nothing came out of that.

Have done masters on this mission four times (4 different chars) and always with heroes/henches.

I generally prefer to kill Shiro first because he can be easily pulled to the door of the temple and then pummeled and killed. After this, I run around and cap the shrines while ignoring the lich. He has a shorter aggro radius so if you flag your henches to the back of each shrine, you can cap easily and he wont ever come up and attack you there (whereas Shiro does).

Once you finish capping, kill him, he is a pushover and dies quickly.

I was with a PUG that was undecided about the bonus, so we killed Shiro first, then in an unorganized method, went around trying to cap the shrines. Lich picked us off one by one. I survived (as Ele) by dodging his projectile crap, then I ran behind the wall (the entrance to the chamber) and soloed him with MoR, Mind Blast, MS, Rodgort's Invocation. Piece of cake double dmg with fire ftw. I wish I took screenshots though.

With a hench/hero team it's better to kill the lich first, and don't touch shiro, he won't do that much dmg and last time I've done it, he didn't follow me all the way to each shrine.

I just got back from doing this mission in hard mode with another person and 6 heroes. Here's the team build we used:
-Me, bonding build with Shield of Regen as my elite
-Tahlkora, pretty standard HB healer
-Razah, Ritual Lord
-Sousuke, SF
-Human Me/N, she was running a Spoil Victor build
-Koss, with Wild Blow of course, not too sure about his other skills
-Zhed, SF
-Whispers, SS
The enchantment removal throughout the mission wasn't too bad, but I did have to re-apply some of the bonds from time to time. When we got to the hard part we couldn't pull the Lich so we killed Shiro first and then ran around capping the altars. We got hit hard and a couple of the heroes died but Life Bond + Shield of Regen was enough to mitigate the Lich's damage most of the time. After all the altars were capped we sent in Koss to tank the Lich with SoR and just threw everything we had at him. The whole mission went surprisingly well and we walked away with the Master's reward.
