Colossal Scimitar...same fate as Dead Sword?
Dark Interception
They still drop far far less then the dead sword, ive seen lots of people saying they farmed for days and they have yet to see one drop.

How about that. :> I suggest making a super rare skin that is even uglier than a Crystalline, with the fitting ugly and expensive armor option so that we can detect this kind of "i need to have rares to be different" people. :> |

This reminds me of when I got my Sephis Axe for 100k +15 ecto (when ecto was 8.5-9k each) right before Nightfall came out. And then there are inscribable Sephis Axes and everyone can get one. It took the rarity of the Sephis Axe and a lot of other weapons away. Now you can pretty much get any weapon skin by farming it yourself or buying it for dirt cheap.
The Colossal Scimitar will become more and more common over the next few weeks and then the price will drop like Fellblades, GPBs, Dead Swords, etc...

Every time you elevate an item to 'super' status Anet will find a way to make it 'not super'. Get use to the fact this game isn't for those that like hardcore grind/farming, it is for the lazy and the people with little time or too cheap to pay a subscription fee.
See the light?? now walk towards it.

Crystallines - Rare? Only old skool 15^50 golds..these are out of reach of your average to semi-hardcore farmer.
Tormented - Easy to farm the gems. Too cheap also.
Elementals - Will always lose value never gain.

Meh.... I only want a Colossal Scimitar for three reasons:
#1. It features on the Illusionary Weaponry skill icon... so there would be a sense of personal amusement to give one to an IW Mesmer.
#2. Because they are fully dyable.... hence easy to make completely pink (coincidentally the same as the IW icon).
#3. They're big and sorta to my taste as regards shape... I like big, funky-looking weapons.
But seriously.... the fact that they're rare never featured into it for me... and nor is the fact that everyone else seemed to want one. I just figured they look cool.
.... And I'd still rather have a 15^50% Celestial Sword. Celestial Weapons are totally teh win! ^_^
[For the record, I also kinda like Oni Blades, Jade Swords, ICY Dragon Swords.... and when it comes down to it, I have two copies of Sskai's Sword, which also looks cool. Those aside though... I just want every freakin Celestial Weapon I can get my grubby little mits on.]
... And to think the whole PINK trend only came about because I was sick and tired of seeing Assassins trying to look cool in black / red / whatever.... and I figured I'd try dying my 15k Kurzick armour the most girly colour imaginable. It actually ended up more sorta Magenta.... but then I made a matching Guild Cape.... and dyed my Necro's armour the same way.... and then my Pre-Searing character as well....
AND THEN... I discovered there are at least two other regular assassin players on here who also have distinctly pink armour. >_<;;

I dont realy mind the price drop of most rare skin, but that it came along with the "loot-scaling" is prety ugly,Either one or the other imo. I find it prety hard to make money nowadays and that when i just bought my ecto's for my necs fow.

I think the Colossal should be more common because:
Its obvious Anet has had this sword model IN THE GAME since Prophecies (see the Illusionary Weapon icon, and weapon racks in Ascalon) and we've teased by being denied access to it! QQ
I can understand NPCs having access to armor, since we cant wear NPC armor. But weapons shouldnt be excluded from the players.
Next on Anet's "We had this weapon since prophecies but now you can get it" list...... Eternal Sword and the Dryder's Staff

Meh.... Leaves me wondering why people don't farm The Deep for Zodiac Weapons instead then. No matter how common Hard Mode might make those, they won't become common because it still takes a certain amount of time farming Faction points first to get the scrolls to access the damned place (unless they go the old taxi way)!
But they're just encouraging one thing:
Playing normally.... 8 person teams...
Of course what they're not accounting for is that the things people want to buy still cost an absolute ton... including some things that just won't drop in price (15k Armour for one).... and forcing people to get money just by playing the game normally means that even the slightest purchase will require gaming for months on end to gather the cash.

i dont mind the stuff HM brought. sure, it is a hit to a lot of people, prices and all..
what bugs me most is that the most arrogant people ive ever seen online in my life get some ectos and become even more annoying than ever.. i know i was away for some time, but it seems like those arrogant biatchez have multiplied by thousands for the past 7-8 months
LOTR online looks a bit weird tho Herb :P
guess Ill be back to some FPS soon enough )

On a side note I took advantage of this price crash and bought a gold, req 9 caster Colossal 14-20 dmg for 50k.

Alll this has one great side effect ... you no longer have excuse for not customizing your best stuff. Seriously.
Anyway, were NOT being spoon fed scimitars, you know, that farm takes a bit of skill, effort and preservance. It's not like everyone has one now either, you might see two disctrics of Mo/Ds but that is only gold rush effect, they will be gone, soon.
Id say its way more achievents to gain weapon yourself even if its cheap than buying it for couple of ecto stacks ... but thats just me.

you mean a handful and beginning to become a "pinch".
farm colossals?
farm ecto?
shards are worthless bro
farm random DoA greens????
what game do you play, cause i want in on all these amazing farming spots for the casual player. its not being "lazy" if someone doesnt feel like making a warrior, then getting him through the game, capping VwK, then farming ecto!? yeah, he's sooo lazy seeing as he paid 50$ to steal life from a little monster repeatedly for a rare material thats almost less in price than a vial of white dye now. get a grip, stop being mean to people stating their opinions.
you bash him, then mention one way to make a little cash for 20-25 minutes of play. that ecto IF you get any will get you SOOOOO much cash bro. heres an idea, maybe he doesnt WANT to farm. ever think of that??? some people CASUALLY play dude. they dont play for 9 hours a day just so they can bash people cause they dont drone into online play like you mr. cool.

Me and my girlfriends played LoTRo beta, one of them loves it (she used to play WoW and FFXI), another one thinks it sucks (she plays DDO and formerly RO).
Me, i thought it was "meh". The quests were fun, i didnt get high enough to really try out the crafting system and "uber" weapons in beta though.
I dont know if LoTRo has super items, since you have weapon decay and other variables like more traditional MMORPGs, im inclined to think they would have items that advantage you over other players vs just vanity skins.
-=--=-=-=-=--=-=-=--=
Maybe Anet should add a few NON-INSCRIBABLE weapons to Elona, just to mix it up.
Gold Rares with 15^50s with .0000000000000000000000001% drop rates of some skins.

I think every game needs some Elite "outta reach" items to strive for. It's what makes the game fun. Sure, not everyone enjoys grinding and farming for stuff and that's ok. Just because you don't own this ultra-nice, ultra-cool weapon doesn't mean that your weapon of choice won't work just as well in PvP battles.
I don't like the "everyone should be able to own one" attitude. Some items should always be outta reach to the average player. As long as these items are just vanity items and don't give a significant advantage in battle there shouldn't be a problem.
I currently have 14k in storage, 30 ectos, 1.5k max armor on all my characters and collector weapons. So I'm not some Elite rich farmer bragging that "I have it and you can't". I will probably never obtain most of the items on my wish list, but that doesn't mean I can't have fun trying.
Personally, I don't care about a weapon's rarity. I will be trying to obtain the weapons that I think look the best, regardless of rarity. I want a nice Chaos Axe with good stats dyed Red for Scarlet because I think those are absolutely the best looking weapons in the game. I'm also keeping my 1.5k armor for now just because I really don't like the look of any of the ascended versions. Perhaps when GW:EN comes out, I'll see something there I prefer.

Complaining that your rare items are losing value is pretty pointless. If you've played GW for any reasonable amount of time you should be accustomed to it.
Hell, depreciation and market fluctuations are apart of life. Get used to it.
Just look forward to all the new gear in GWEN coming in just a few months.

The gear is *inside* Gwen? Dear lord...
And the price drop stuff is silly, as the economy should have never been based on ectos anyway. It was really started due to the glitch where some people made millions during the two trader resets.
And in GW the car analogy would be more like this.
The Honda Civic is a nice car worth 10k. The BMW is worth 100k plus 50 ectos. The Cadillac, forget it that would be 100k plus 200 ectos.

What's the matter? Everything was allready reachable for the casual player. The matter is not "farming", it's simply impatience. It's the "I want it all and I want it now" philosophy which is the problem here, really. The part about getting these things was never a problem, the time needed for it was neither. So what, through normal playing you get roughly 2 plat in your 30 minutes of ultra casually playing a mission.
Good. There is your first step allready, put them into the storage and you're happy to go. Of course instead of 2 months it will take you a year to get your FOW Armor but who cares really? Atleast you got it and you didn't (have to) farm for it at all. Simply by saving your cash up.
Of course, little ultracasual (and I really doubt anyone playing less than 30 minutes really has any interest in skins at all) wants it now, instead of in a year. A-Net says "here kittie kittie" and lowers the distance by quite a bit for him. This is wrong but A-Nets path regardless. Of course some will be pleased by this but they're pleasure will dwindle when it is them that are forced into a fixed mold.

That pretty much sums up GW IMHO. You folks that bought Colossal's before HM should have seen the writing on the wall, and even if you didn't you had enough time to cut your losses before they tanked into nothingness.
Yes they will be the next dead sword. Req 9 for 65k FTW.
It does take some effort though....took me 6-7 hours of farming to farm one. Others have reported farming for days and still haven't seen one.
How come nobody's complaining about Dead Bows? Looks like you can't get 10k for a 15>50 req 9 anymore....now that is sad! At least the Colossals are still above 100k!
Sephis is next!

Farming is tedious, yes. That's the point. You have to be willing to work for what you want. Sorry that it sucks, but that's the way Guild Wars was made.

As far as the car analogy goes, I definitely don't agree with that kind of socialist mentality in RL. However, GW is a different "world" in itself, and Anet is it's god. If they want to make it possible for many ppl to have what was thought to be rare, they can.

I love this community, let think for a second this is just a game for god sake. It's Colossal Scimtar who care about it, it used to be a rare skin in GW but now peoples found ways to farm for it. I'm not surprise given to the fact that there are farmers out there and peoples can think up different builds that allows them to farm certain places or enemies. The point is, peoples has ways to get what they wanted and now Colossal Scimitar will become a common items for rest of the community to get.
