Well I was thinking.... since a majority of Guild Ads and Trade ads circling through Lions Arch, Kaineng Center, and Kamadan originate from the chat repeat feature, why not turn it off?
I quite literally see no other feature for the repeat function other than to create spam. For typical chat, its not that difficult to type it again if somebody missed what you said.
I believe that without the repeat feature, spam would be near nonexistent. There are people who can type gibberish spam, sure, but since it has no use... it would not be as common as advertisements.
Try to remember that we have the search feature now, and no longer need to spam districts with ads. If the repeat function was disabled, then people would not be doing chat sales as often as before.
Who knows.... maybe you will be able to hold a conversation in Lions Arch District 1 again?
Thoughts?
No Chat Repeat Function (FlameBait for sure)

I do think it would cut back on some of the spam but not that much. And BTW all it takes is to highlight the text and hit Ctrl+C and Ctrl+V and you have a copy and paste of the text, so it wouldn't really matter because anyone with a brain can just do that. But then again I don't know how many people in GW actually have brains...
Good idea but the fact is that you will not be able to have a discussion in the biggest trade hub of GW ever again unless you go to international or a higher district.
*edit* Aera beat me to it...

Yeah, thats a good point. If only all chat was affected by no copy/paste, you could always simply invite people to a team or just whisper them for a repeat.
I think that if they turned off repeat and copy/paste in all chat ONLY, that would solve the problem. It would force players to go to trade channel or otherwise retype every time.
