Character Creation Question - If I have All Three Games..
Stomphoof
Can I make say a Dervish and start in say the Prophecies game? Or can I only make a dervish by loading up Nightfall and then taking him to Prophecies?
Honor
Dervish and paragon can only start in nightfall and then move over, same for assasins and ritualists must start in Cantha and then travel accordingly
Stomphoof
Ok, lets say I do the starter stuff with my elementalist in Factions, could I move him to Prophecies and start at the newbie area in Prophecies?
Painbringer
Nightfall is the only starting point for the dervish/paragon
Factions is the only starting point for the Assasin/ritualist
Balance of professions can start anywhere

You're new elementalist in Factions would have to get through the noob island and onto the mainland in Kaineng Center. You would then have to get to the docks and travel to Lion's Arch (I think there's also a required quest to travel but I can't remember). So you won't be able to get into the pre-searing portion of the Prophecies campaign (if that's what you are asking), as you would effectively already be considered "seared".
Personally, I thought "pre-searing" was pretty much a long waste of time but others find it useful for gathering skills, farming dyes (blacks used to drop frequently here) and also getting some sought-after quest rewards (55 monk weapon and warrior sword skin). If this is what you want to do, you must start your character in Prophecies.

Ummm -55 monk weapon is in post searing Havok, its just you need a phrophecies character to get the quest.
Stomphoof
55 Monk Weapon?
Am I missing anything not doing Prophecies first?

They're just talking about the -50 health cesta thingy you get towards the start of Prophecies. You don't need to worry about that.
Stomphoof
-50 health cesta thingy? Sounds...interesting.
Well I thought of another question. Lets say I start a prophecies character. For the sake of argument, lets say he is a Monk.
For my second profession, if I had say Both Factions and Nightfall, could I have his second profession be Dervish without going to Nightfall? Or would I need to go to Nightfall to choose that second profession?

You'd have to take him to Nightfall and switch in the sunspear command post.
Stomphoof
Hrm. Is that possible to do easily? Cause it dont sound easy for sure.

1: The '55 monk weapon'- It's a 'post searing' but can still only be gotten by a Tyrian as ALL quests are unavailable prior to a certain point for foreigners. Also it is not a weapon, but the -50 offhand reward from 'Cities of Ascalon' most likely.
There was a crystalline *skinned* quest reward sword in PRE searing that is being talked about, it had +5 armor while casting and HCT5%. The quest reward was in fact updated in a recent patch, but I can't remember what was changed, and in fact the wiki item stats may have already been correctly updated.
Regardless of whether the quests are pre or post they are still unavailable for foreigners however.

I am now further confused.

They're two items you get as quest rewards only available to native Tyrians. The offhand is used by 55 monks for solo farming. And when it was available, people like the long sword that was skinned like crystalline sword so they could pretend they were rich.

That is also, by design, about where you can start doing Prophecies quests as a non-Proph. born character. (There are a few you can do before that, but not many). You can fight your way backwards to do the missions before Lion's Arch, but if I remember correctly, you will not get any experience points or skill points for completing those missions. Starting with D'Alessio Seaboard, you start getting exp. and skill points for completing missions.
One of the nice things about Prophecies vs. Factions/Nightfall is that there are a number of quests you can do that provide skills as a reward. That can save you quite a bit of money as buying skills can get expensive in terms of skill points and money if you aren't prudent in the beginning. Some also feel that the slower pace of the Proph. campaign promotes better learning of your characters skills.
As for changing professions, you have a couple choices, but I have to say that doing it through Proph. is a bit of a pain. You have to complete 3 challenging (for beginners) missions, then do the ascension mission and then you can change your secondary profession. But you aren't done yet. To change your profession, you have to unlock it first. To do that, you have to do a quest for each profession you wish to unlock. This is free, but a little time consuming when you just want to go /Mesmer because you want some good e-management skills. In Factions and Nightfall, once you do the appropriate mission or quest, you just have to pay 500 gp to change for the first time. After that, just use the Skill window to change.
Another alternative is to ascend however you wish, and then go to the Great Temple of Balthazar in the PVP area and there is a profession changer there. For 500gp (again, first time per prof. only), he'll change you to whatever secondary you want.
Finally, Prophecies, instead of a starter isle, has pre-searing. That is only accessible to Prophecies born characters, and even they can't go back once they leave.
The grim cesta with the -50 health can be bought from other players for about 5k. I like starting characters in Prophecies for the skill quests and the Cesta, though I now run them (with my own second account) to Factions to level up to 20 more quickly first, then go back and do the quests to get free skills.
Hope that's all clear and answers your questions. Have fun in the game.

Thanks for the all the help everyone!
So far I am getting my legs so to speak.
I decided to go Elementalist Monk. I hit level 10, got my second profession and all that good stuff.
Fire is a good damage tree/skill for Elementalists right? Its all about AOE stuff from what I can tell.
