A-net slacking?

Unlike Prophecies and Factions , Nightfall release was not preceded by a CG trailer, also there have been no new GW wallpapers on the official site for ages.
Whats up with that?

Lol Anet can be annoying at time and some of the thing they did, doesn't seem to make any sense. But they're far from slacking off, I believe the reason to cut the CG for NF was to reduce the time it take to make the game.

As for the wall papers, who knows? I don't use GW wallpaper anyway. I rather they use the time to spend on GW:EN. Not to mention they are working on GW2 as well.

Why not make your own wallpaper using print screen.

All the views and graphics in guild wars I'm sure you could think of something.

I dun't think that they are slacking... They are busy with GW2, where they are working to rebuild the whole engine i think, so..that's lot of work...

Also, they got GW:EN in preparation and coming out this year i think..so i'd say that they are far from slacking...

*beats the dead horse* They cut out the CG so they would have more time to perfect the game. Unfortunate, (I love the first two cutscenes) but true.

nit-picking or what, come on guys so what if a trailor wasnt released, the game was, and its pretty awesome to boot...

As far as I know they don't make the CG movies themselves, but a team from NCSoft in Korea does. Same team that does the Lineage movies and such. The 'saving time' excuse is a bit lame, I suspect it's a 'saving money' kind of deal

Its not that I cannot make my own wallpapers, it just struck me as weird that they ceased to do something they used to. Maybe I should make the trailer too

I loved the Proph and Factions trailers, was very disappointed at the NF one. I will forever remember those words "When I was a young girl, my father fought in the Guild Wars..." lol

In a thread about this subject 6 months ago, Gaile posted that the reason there isn't a CG video of Nightfall is because the money could be better spent else were and that the short videos for the first two games cost several hundred thousand dollars each.

You can get the CG trailers on the GW website, they are also included on the proph and factions Cds if you have those.

I'm highly doubting they are simply sitting around and eating doughnuts. But yeah, will no new expansions, it APPEARS they aren't doing anything. For all we know, they work 8 hours a day, and work hard on the next Expansion, and GW2.

The better question is the damn cinematics. Why do they not do something to make the cinematics not suck ass? Seriously,

1)Re-do all the Factions cinematics that DON'T include a player's character (i.e. ALL of the Shiro ones) in CGI, because ALL of them were disgusting and shitty.
2)Release some of the videos as downloads for free on the website.
3)???????
4)Profit.

That missing step had better be a knockout, Mesmerman. 'cause step 1 *costs* them money, and step 2 keeps them from generating revenue on said expenditures in the first place...

I remember someone posted a storyboard drawing of the opening CG for nighfall in the riverside, it was a while back 3-4 months ago maybe. Anyway the drawing show the coming of Abadon to the surface of Elona with Varesh, only to be welcome by the sunspear army led by a certain paragon. The sunspears charge in , Abadon get ready for them, screen faded and nightfall logo turn up.

Have a dig in riverside old thread, it's in there somewhere. I can't be arse to do it. :P
