I definitely want to get GW:Prophecies today (for several reasons), but I also want to get either Factions or Nightfall. I've already read the thread about the differences on all three, but just wanted to know what the general consensus was about what second one to get. I do know that if I like the two that I get, I'll be getting the one I don't have, and the one coming out soon.

Nightfall has the better PvE seems to be the general consensus.
If you want to PvP seriously you should buy all of them anyway.

Prophesies- Has a great learning curve. You will learn slowly and become better at it through trial and error. Creatures get tougher as you progress the story. It is a long game if you do the quests and take your time. Take in the beauty while in pre-searing.

Factions- Great way to advance a character fast! High experience rewards. You will have harder creatures right away compared to Prophesies. This game is much faster to get to the end. Ritualist and Assassin professions come from here. You will experience 2 (16 person missions) Blew me away the first time I played one.

Nightfall- Heroes you get to use them and they follow you anywhere from there on. They can come with you to any campaign. You can set there skills to what you want, and also give them whatever cool items you find during your travels. Dervish and Paragon professions come from here. As you get to the end of the game the monsters separate the men from the boys.

I like them all but if you have money for just 2 get Prophesies and Nightfall.

for sure get nightfall and start characters there so you will have hero's to help with prophesies as it is hard to get a group in a game that is 2 campaigns old...plus if you are PvE player sins and rits are usually not as much use as a dervish IMO

Factions- In this campaign you will level extremely quickly. Two new professions: Assassin and Ritualist. Big place, tonnes of people and lots of things to farm for easy money. 2 Elite missions in the main areas. and wo different Factions to choose from and battle for territory.

Nightfall- Fun and exciting. two new professions: Dervish and Paragon. Great place for farming. Heros helpfull for beating this and other campaigns. Monsters get harder and makes it more challenging.

Both campaigns are very useful when playing prophecies(Nightfall for the heros and Factions for items and Ritualist(pawns)).

Well, I'm in quite the dilemma, then. I doubt hubby will let me get all three :P I'll do some thinking while I go through coupons and do up the grocery list.

I got a question. I have Factions, and was looking to get Either Prophecies or Nightfall...

Which would be better to get first? From the sound of it, Nightfall would be due to the Heroes.

Prophecies for some popular elite skills and the story.
Factions is actually my favourite installment, but it seems to be an aquired taste and there's no obvious specific benefit to choosing it over the others.
Nightfall for Heroes and Treasures.

There's benefits either way, but I'd go with Nightfall, over Factions or Prophecies. Heroes benefit if you want or have to solo and treasures are a nice bonus for the more casual player.

I'd say get Nightfall. The heros are amazing!

Id second that ^^

Heros are what makes NF better than Factions imo. Also factions has the annoying Afflicted. NF at least for me required me to change builds alot, in Factions it was the same old MM build for my nec, or the same Dragons slash build for my war. Grated, i wasnt FORCED to play those builds but they were just the most efficient.

Once again, Heros make the difference here. They make the game so much easier and they make the game more fun imo. its almost like having more chars.

There is a sticky at the top of this Q&A forum that describes the three games to help with decisions.

For info on the early game areas, visit guildwiki.org http://gw.gamewikis.org/wiki/Main_Page and look over the beginner section.

Welcome to guru, and, whichever you choose, you will enjoy GW.

VA,USA...for now.

I highly suggest Prophesies. Starting any other campaign first would be like reading The Chronicles of Narnia out of order. Sure, it will still be great and make sense, but you will lack the core knowledge and storyline that makes the entire series cohesive. Also, if you don’t get a chance to experience Pre-Searing, you will always wonder, “What if…?”

As far as a second choice, I would recommend Nightfall for all the reasons folks give above.

Thanks for all the suggestions

I decided I'm going to get Prophecies and Nightfall

Hopefully I get my connection problems figured out.

Good luck with your connection issues Sanai! If you have DSL feel free to PM Me. I used to do DSL Tech support about a year ago... :P

I think I am gonna get Nightfall after all the discussion here. That, and the dervish sounds like fun.

At the rate I'm going, I'll never get them figured out Stupid Vista. I'd rather have XP back.
