I cant talk in allaince chat!

In my current guild they use the allaince tab to chat but the problem is i cant recieve what other people send! I can send stuff through the allaince and they know what ive written but when i press enter its as if nothing happned! So i cant see whats happeneing in the allaince chat! Please help and yes i have reinstalled guildwars. And restarted it. So please dont surgest that.

Ok I'm sorry if this seems simple, but you didn't mention it.
Do you have the Alliance chat option de-selected, in the chat box is alliance selected?
