Second hand Guild wars activation problems

Hello, I have just bought a second hand copy of Guild Wars. I have just tried to create a new online account using the activation key enclosed but I get this message: 'that key is already in use.' It is obvious that the original game owner did not delete the account before selling it on. How can I get a working key? The game is an original and I bought it today from Cash Converters.

The purchase or sale of "second hand" copies of Guild Wars is prohibited by the EULA.

When a key is used to create an account, that account is permanently affixed to the key entered. There is no way to delete the previous user's account and have you start with a clean slate.

www.guildwars.com/support is the address to contact Guild Wars support, although most likely they will not be able to help you in this situation. Your best bet may be to attempt to get your money back from wherever you purchased the used account and use the money to buy a proper retail package.
