Miniture seller

On Guildwars I think there should be a guy who sells minitures, not birthday presents just new minitures. He should be labeled puppets! :



On the guys menu it would say this:



The Miniture me when u buy it its name would change to be a Miniture Fox Cub ( in my case ) and you can change it at will, have yourself totting along behind u! The mini me would cost a little extra.

I'm not a miniature hater by any means (maybe I'm lying because I really dislike the human-miniatures), but I think having a miniatures Trader would take away the little significance that miniatures do have. If anyone can buy a miniature, they would develop Miniature-Pig syndrome (from the Canthan New Year Festival) for being too plentiful... By being so extensively common, the Pig has next to no value or significance.

(Personally, I enjoyed the Pig mini and like to fantasize that some day I will have a complete set of miniatures from the Chinese Zodiac -- no matter how unlikely).

Nono it would be all the contrary : a great thing !
Look : everyone can buy a miniature and there is no significance at all at the moment : apart from showing you are rich, what is the significance of Kuunavang, the ridiculous bird ? N-O-N-E !
The solution would be either personalized minis (but it's already too late) or a miniature seller, for official prices, and the second effect od this wonderfull idea would be that ALL minis would have the same degree of rarity, it wouldn't be pre-determined by Anet when adding 100 rollerbeetles for example.
Why not having the same prestige when showing a mini devourer than a bone dragon ? I relly don't see the point of another discrimination !
But, you'll be saying "but everyone will buy a gwen mini, or a kunaavang" : it's the way it is the first week, everyone wants the rare thing, but then... it becomes comon lmao, and everyone just take the mini they like, not the mini which shows their money, or their "pseudo fame".
Or you personalize minis one day, but hope kills me I think, there will be no system like this...

Every one prefer the bad solution wich consist of an open market, open to scams, and open to abuses (bone dragon roflmao)

Having obtained my Kuunavang thru the Collector's Edition, I have great personal significance in the pet. It doesn't bother me to see other Kuunavangs and not know whether or not the individual obtained it thru CE-purchase or in-game trade/buying, because I find my significance in knowing that of the n number of Kuunavangs out there, I was able to purchase the CE and obtain this really great-looking minipet.

I couldn't care less how many of the other Kuunavangs I see were purchased from other CE-buyers because my significance is a personal achievement.

For some of us, it isn't all about prestige. For those of you who live for this mini-prestige, why be bitter? Just accept that there some are more rare than others and not everyone can buy anything they want in the GW-world. If someone is lucky enough to have the opportunity to purchase a Rollerbeetle, then good on them. I would have loved to obtained a Rollerbeetle miniature, but I didn't earn it; and those who DID earn it have the right to sell it if they do not want it at whatever price people are willing to pay.

If you don't find any significance in miniatures because "anyone can buy them" then what do you care if people are buying them from another player or a Trader NPC?

It seems like your true issue with miniatures is the rarity of some miniatures but most of these are earned.

Kuunavang & Varesh: Earned thru CE purchase
Azura & Grey Giant: Earned thru magazine purchase
Rollerbeetle: Earned thru competing.
All those Japan/Tawain exclusives: Earned thru prizes or competitions.
Pig: Earned thru successful event.

Ghostly Hero and Mallyx are fairly random. Even then, however, if someone wants Mallyx or Ghostly Hero bad enough they can earn them thru numerous openings of a Coffer of Whispers or Hall of Heroes Victory Chest.

The only truly random miniatures are, thus, birthday gifts and how is complete random selection not fair? Again, those who do not want a gift should have the right to sell it; pleasing the buyer as well as the seller, for having made free gold.

The purchasing price is determined by the demand rather than the rarity. Humour me by observing this simple example: Let's assume that there are an equal amount of Factions CE's produced as Nightfall CE's produced. This constant would mean that there is an equal amount of Kuunavang and Varesh miniatures available. Varesh usually sells for 40k (some people are lucky enough to get more), while Kuunavang usually sells for 100g+n ectos. Welcome to economics.



On the other hand, I just realized that cub is suggesting that this Miniatures Trader NPC offers a handful of new miniatures that are only available thru this NPC.

Opposing my original statement, these miniatures would not detract from those currently available because they would be completely different. The issue would be much more important: These miniatures would clearly be set at a rate of 100p (using cub's example price) and would, thus, replace ectos as the perfect form of gold storage. If all of these miniatures were customizable, however, then this problem would be fixed. Thusly, these minis would now find themselves worthless in trade and would be a completely personal purchase.

Like miniature PIGS (worse!), since an infinite number of these miniatures can be produced from this NPC (or, at least, 1 of each per character --a potential of 27 of each per GW account); what significance would there be in having any of them? Few people actually care for their 'Pigs' because nearly everyone has one.

If this NPC had "cooler" miniatures than those specially marked boxes, prizes, and presents; then where would the importance be in these special items?

And for those who are not concerned with prestige: What is wrong with earned specials or random selection other than that you are bitter that you cannot afford the miniature that you want?




One final note... I am completely against the "Miniature Me."

I love the idea myself, but the price tag on your example is way too high. If they have a mini-trader, it should be supply and demand (like the rune trader) or probably 10k to 20k per mini tops.
At least this way, you could get the mini you want. You could have a trader in each campaign that each sell campaign related mini's.

This wouldn't be so bad, really, but Darth Kukulkan would not be pleased to discover that the minis with a higher demand are going to be just as expensive as the "Rare" minis we have now.

though i dont know about the personallized ones. and the mini me...i would like to see a mini me but what weapon would she use? I liked ferrets idea about making it like the rune traders, this means we could actually moniter the price of minis a little more easily.

i love minpets but this i dont like... it kinda devalues minis. i got 3 chars that are over a year old, one which is almost 2 years, and because i keep my chars i got rewarded.... i would not like to see everyone and their brother running around with special*and from what ive seen cooler* minis... please no

I will probably never seen a Legendary or Inscribable Crystalline sword in the hands of any of my characters, or ever see another Gold Armor (with a Superior Vigor on it) assigned to one of them. I will not be denied the Minis I'd like to have.

People that get certain Minipets they don't want would have an easier way to sell them (I'd hate to think of anyone disposing of an unwanted Minipet into the trash can, horrors!) without standing in a town spamming for hours. Anything that reduces trade spam in towns is a good thing and should be made available ASAP.

We certainly aren't going to see an auction house anytime soon...

mini's are gifts from anet,... and they'd be of less value to me whence I received the gift if there was a trader that offered the same thing.

I respect your idea and think you Miniature Me is a wonderful and creative idea ... but I don't like the trader idea it takes away from the "point" if you will of mini pets

True, it would not happen in any form; either way.

The fixed price on minis, however, is certainly not going to deter the capitalist economy of GW. The entire GW system would have to be reworked to change the capitalist economy that aNet (and most MMO's) based GW around.

very interesting idea, mate. i do have a few queries, however. mini pets do have a place in guild wars, and thats the whole birthday gift, or even the preorder/collectors edition pack of a new campaign, making mini pets quite special. i think making a mini pet store, even if it was 'unique' minis being sold, would exploit the whole idea of birthday prezzies anyway. i myself havent reached my first bday ingame yet, and am extremely looking forward to it (7 months i do believe). but, aside from that, the ideas of the miniatures being sold at this trader you have created are very interesting, and i do think they should bring mini 'selfs' out (also, price to expensive at your shop)

I just think that minipets should remain as a gift for your characters birthday adding a merchant for them would really ruin them as an exciting and fun present to open on your birthday.

Least they are to me, I gathered about 10-12 guildies for when I opened my 2nd birthday present and we were all dancing and popping champagne and sparklers and stuff

With a merchant we really wont get that, all it will be is "How much is it worth then?"

The idea is great, but there needs to be a price adjustment, 100k for a mini warrior? No... It should be price adjustment based on the people, not the main price of all of them.

I'm not sure about this......it would greatly lower the value of mini pets and there meaning. Mini pets are supposed to be special....not really common. I don't think this would be great.
