Alternative/more visible mousepointer
Numa Pompilius
I'm playing at 1600x1200 most of the time - I have the hardware to do it comfortably, and the game looks gorgeous.
However, there is a problem: the mouse pointer is very small at that resolution, and tends to get "lost in the scenery" for me, so I have to wave it around to see where it is. I frequently screw up battles because I can't click when I want to simply because I don't know where the pointer is.
It would be great if it was possible to have a range of pointers to chose from, some of which could be a bit bigger and/or in more contrasty color (signal red or green, for instance) than the present golden pointer.

If anything, it should scale with screen size.

If you use Windows, there is an option for you to have some circles go towards the pointer when you press control. This does show up in game, though you may experience some slight slowdown.
Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Show Location of Pointer
I agree, scaling cursor sizes would be nice.

You know that little graphic that shows up on your skill bar when you get a new skill or a skill changes? I think they should add an option to that so you know where it is when you move it.

A more visible cursor *option* is needed in my opinion.
I often lose the mouse cursor and I have to wave it around to see where it is. I would sometimes have to wave it around several seconds before I see it.
I thought it was just me but when I introduced a friend to Guild Wars, he mentioned the same thing and now this thread speaks about it, I am starting to think it is affecting more people than I once thought.
I haven't tried the Start -> Control Panel -> Mouse -> Pointer Options -> Show Location of Pointer yet so I'll check it out later.

How one loses the pointer in a game like GW is beyond me...I run the game at that resolution as well, and I've had no trouble with it.

Pointer should resize with screen size, and various sizes should be when in windowed mode.
Hm... and maybe a slider in the Control options with 'mouse pointer size'...
Ah! And mouse sensitivity! That would be nice too.

I absolutely 100% support this idea - in fact I was going to make a post about it myself but found this one.
I have never had a problem before, but in GW:EN it seems that there is not enough contrast between the gold pointer and the greeny/yellow backgrounds that you find there.
I don't think it so much a size problem as a contrast one though.
It would be great if there were a range of cursor sizes and colours to pick from.

I do tend to lose the mouse pointer nearly always always when I need to click on a skill, I should really use keys for that but old habits die hard.
I will experiment with alternative pointers and see if they show up in the game.

GW Player : Anet could you please make my mouse pointer bigger I keep losing it in the grass?
Anet : Sure thing i'll pass it to the dev team.
Dev team : Sure thing Anet I know just how to fix that we'll nerf grass.

Or use a bigger mouse?

Umm.. ya it would be nice if it scaled with screen size
They could even add an option that allows us to adjust its size manually.

Just did a quick test on the mouse pointer.
Size alteration didnt transfer into the game.
The ctrl option to show mouse pointer works ok
Best I found was adding a mouse trail, that showed up the position and the eye is drawn right to it.
goto mouse in control panel and try adding the trail, similar feature in the logitech drivers I use.

eh, I never have any problems with it. But more customization for those who want it is fine

TOTALLY NOT SIGNED!!!
Oops.. habit.
I mean, signed. Seriously, it's not such a bad idea. I don't see why not. It supposed to be a part of the game engine to have a pain-in-the-ass mouse pointer.

It's not the size of the cursor, it's the colour of the cursor compared to the scenary/enemies.

And, yes I also support this idea, doesn't happen to me but I can under how it can get real frustrating.
@Razorwood: I don't see how using a bigger mouse would help.

I've often lost track of where the mouse cursor is because it's brown color. I have to move the mouse around a lot to find the movement of the cursor.
Speaking of easier to see, I'd like the option to make my inventory and storage background white or other colors. Against black there are some items I can hardly see. I can't see my black dyed bandana unless my mouse cursor moves over it and displays the text. Same with a monk sandals I have. But I don't know of any white colored items that would be hard to see against a white background. Even so, I think it would be easier to see than something black against a black background.
