Some of the monster drops will be things like Hecket Garment or Avicarra Vest, or something, something Armor.
You can't actually equip these items like you can dropped weapons (swords, staves, wands) or offhands (grim cestas, scrolls, ankhs, shields). These items have runes (like superior rune of vigor or superior rune of Death Magic) on them that you can salvage out with an expert or superior salvage kit.
The thing I'm talking about relates to the Wisdom title tract that you get by identifying rare (gold text) items. If you get a rare armor drop you can salvage out the rune BEFORE identifying the armor piece. This may leave you with an UnID's armor piece, and an UnID'd rune. Now you can use your ID kit to ID both items for 2 points to your Wisdom title (vs. 1 point for IDing the armor piece with the rune on it, as it counts as a single ID'd item).
Keep in mind that when you salvage things, you have a chance of destroying the thing you are salvaging from. In Proph. and Factions, armor pieces can only come with runes, so the above trick can only help you in regards to title hunting (you will always get the rune, and always have at least one item to ID). But in Nightfall, armor pieces can come with a rune and/or an insignia, so the above trick can backfire badly (insignia are never gold I think so you could salvage out an insignia and break the armor...so no rare ID and possibly no Superior Rune).

Hope that all made sense.
