I made “survivor 1” on my Mesmer last night. I am sure you guys are saying whoopee do. But I have never made it past the first tier of this title got close but ended up getting spiked. It is more for a personal “I did it” kind of thing rather than the bragging rights of the title that drives me. I am going on to try for the next level and I am thinking about soloing the hard mode Level 22 bugs outside of the Monastery in Factions. If my math is right with a +50% exp scroll in hard mode they are worth 408 exp each “Kill 25 of them and you have 10k of experience”. Plus I am dirt poor and need to farm a little cash. Yes I will farm skill captures because of the double experience this weekend as much as I can, but I would like a safe farming area for experience.
The bugs use only two skills that I have noticed so far Deathly Swarm and Elite Shield of Regeneration. A solo build should be able to take them down one by one. I am sure I will have to change my secondary to a monk due to the damage they can do. My question to you any suggestions on a build?
Thanks in advance

Well, you know... if you are going for survivor, why not go and duel team it? You could wait by and be safe, getting half exp, but never having a chance to really fail rather then risk a solo build. Because no-matter how good you may be Lag=Survival Gone, and it comes in random times.<Along with a mesmer being a general squishy> You could find a friend to do it for you and also the mantids are concentrated around one another and the monitors will support one another if you aren't lucky. As such, you would try to lure one, and cause more problems...such as gathering a giant mob...
Mantids use gaze of contempt right...someone correct me if I'm wrong, because a guildmate tried this and was enchant-rmoved. >>; Along with the Monitors wandering around heal alot <if they have their heal there...> >>; So to solo it, you would need fast and sufficent healing with powerful enough attacks to bypass the healing and shield enchant<Which recharges so quickly, its no use taking it off>... "D
If I were you, I'd say try somewhere else.. x.x The risk would be too high for me to try this place solo, if I were you. "D But whatever~ You could try it if you want, but you need a build with: <Not sure about -Protection without enchants and> sufficient healing and damage...

The hard mode mantids on that path are pretty nasty.
I'd attempt it first with another character to get a real feel for what they can do.

Well all I have to say is the title still eludes me 420000K and 1 death. Ritualist bosses such nasty little spikers. Farming experience in hard mode is good outside the monastery. Not the Trail to the Harbor, but the Noob Valley you start in Factions. Only one or two monsters at a time and also a boss as well.

Whooptee Doo??? Heck no man. CONGRATULATIONS. I've been trying for that title for over a month now with probably .... 6 characters now? 2 times was my own fault 4 times lag=dead (as stated). I may try the method stated for 2nd or 3rd tier title but I doubt it. I'll be happy if I make the first. Again, congrats.

I am on my Fifth Mesmer And got at least one title so far ;
Character 1 Never left presearing deleted
Character 2 Played to level 15 in prophecies had a hard time with anything and everything (Had no idea back then what I was doing deleted)
Character 3 Factions came out tried it again got to level 10 same problems as above deleted character
Character 4 Nightfall Cleaned house with a fast casting elementalist build finished all campaigns in record time. (Deleted character because I was not really a Mesmer)
Character 5 Nightfall playing with only Mesmer skills and enjoying the challenge, and learning the game in a new perspective

I have two Legendary Survivors and am currently working toward a third.
The first, a necro, was a long time in the making. It took thirteen attempts over multiple months before reaching the third tier. Then later when I rerolled my mesmer, it was much easier...almost as though I didn't have to try. There's just a certain playstyle that takes time to acquire. Note, I'm not advocating quitting at the first sign of danger or maintaining a finger constantly held over F12. It's a rather retarded way to go through the game if you ask me.
As for the experience required, there are a multitude of ways to earn it. My first LS character was clearly the more legitimate one; I got all the xp through questing and skill capping (133 elites at the time). With the mesmer I was less patient. Also, I didn't feel like recapping all those skills since they were already unlocked. Instead I ran the Luxon version of FFF, which is located in the arena just south of Breaker Hollow. With the right hero setup I was able to average about 35,000 xp per hour when allowing for time to merchant and redeem faction.
You could also look into other places for solo farming, but I don't have much advice to offer there.

its said that the survivor title is the 2nd lucky title...
btw imo, survivor (1) couldnt be easier... just have high hp, stay out of the way, and ul be alright... legendary survivor is kinda tough... but (1-2) is a breeze....

My dervish was my first survivor, but agrroed too much in Ajok Ward, and got killed by the dervish boss there, died about 300k
My paragon then achieved it, but got to close to the citedel in the Venta Cemetary Mission and was wiped out in one shot, got to about 380k
Then my assassin achieved it, amazingly as so many times got close to death, then on the run to Kaineg city from the marketplace was killed trying to get the first quest done, died about 150k
Next up was my Ritualist, actually achieved Legendary Survivor, through doing the missions and quests in both Elona; though not the DOA, and Cantha, avoiding Last mission, and getting up to Dragon's Lair in Tyria,
This included getting GM Cartographer on both Cantha and Elona too
My Ranger has gained the first level too, has not died yet and is about 350k at the moment, takign him slowly through the places,
my monk is at level 11 at attempting it through Tyria
The other professions i started before the title was available, and they died
however mesmer is amazing to get it on, as i find mine dies a hell of a lot until i unlocked most of the skills on it.
