5 solo Runs in UW, 20 minutes each.. Normal mode.


No ectos.

Not a sigle one. Got 1 rare item drop.. got 2 purples. about 10 whites in about 1.4k in gold (In 5 runs)

Anyone else notice less drops in UW after the last patch? People in ToA talking about how Loot scale for rare crafting and rare items is back.

Deffently less ectos... also anyone else notice how ectos havn't gone above 7.5k at the trader? at all? Guild mate brought 140 ectos at the trader .. didn't budge his price.

Been doing ToPK solo on my ele for the past 4 days, not a single ecto.

Farm in hard mode, you will notice a significant drop rate of ectos in there. Normal mode wont give you many rare items as hard mode.

Over the past few days of farming scimtars ive noticed that. In about 10 runs i got 8 golds on hard mode. I then went on "easy" mode with my ele and farming outside of yohlon 10 times. Got lots of whites, 2 purples, and shells.

I don't really know whats going on with ectos either...I think people freaked out and sold all of their ectos to the trader when they were at 10-11k each. Then demand for ectos went down because lots of people stopped farming UW. They are going back up slowly though.

uuhm well the last time i did UW (which has prolly about 4 days ago) i got 3 ectos in 2 20 minutes runs but if its the last patch that may have done it i suppose ill do a few test runs today to see if my average changes. Out of 100 runs or so i average 1 ecto every run sometimes 2 or 3. as for why ectos have gone donw is waaay beyond me....prolly hard mode 55 farmers have way too easy of a time or somethin...who knows.

I been to UW once when HM is out. I didn't get any ectos and noticed alot of white drops instead.

In 2 years with various UW farming builds (solo or team) I've never had en ecto drop lol (and no this isn't sarcasm or some flame or anything its true lol) so don't complain

I've seen rares and ectos drop in normal mode UW since the big update, sure its slightly less than usual but not alot. You might just be having a bad streak, just do something else for a while then come back to it and see if its changed.

Have you ever heard about a run of bad luck?

Sounds like anet personally fiddled with certain prices to justify their loot scale patch. It was like: "we did this patch to reduce bots and prices. Oh noes, bots are still here and prices are still high. Well...If we mess with the prices ourselves no one will notice and we can justify the implementation of this patch instead of admitting we kinda messed the game up."

Atleast 11 people I talked to have said that it feels like Ectos got loot scaled again...


Ecto's arn't going up at the trader yet because they didn't post a change log of the fact they have now scaled ectos down again.

Roomate just did 3 runs in the UW .. (Diffrent accont, diffrent IP.. ect) and no ectos for him also.

I played a bit pve today all in hard mode and i noticed the mobs them selfs almost aren't dropping anything at all.Maybe 3 drops in 25 kills?Very odd and n, this is not just because of loot scaling as i played after that came out too and i didn't find it to be that bad, but last 2 days it seems really weird on the drops.

Before the Loot scaling update, I had a space of nearly 20 runs with not a single ecto or gold drop.

Since the update:

10 UW normal mode runs. 8 ecto. 2 for 2 just last night.

My guess is bad luck. It's a random drop. If you flip a coin 50 times, there's a chance (infinitely small, but still a chance) it'll come up heads 50 times in a row. It's random.

Honestly, if 200 people posted on here that they haven't gotten ecto drops, I still wouldn't believe it's nerfed. If there are 2 million people (or bots) playing GW, and only 1% (20,000) solo or duo UW*, then 200 individual complaints is still only 1% of the 1% that solo. That leaves 99% that either aren't saying anything (doubtful) or are getting reasonable enough drops to keep going with it. (much more likely).

*I pulled 1% out of my butt. I'd be willing to bet it's at least twice that.

I did 4 runs today and walked away with 2 ecto...Normally I average 1 every run to every other run so about normal.

I think it's all random down there, some days you'll get 2 to 3 ectos on one run. Other time, you'll get nothing in mulitple tries.

Did a run this week end ( actualy my first ever solo run) got two ecto out of four groups of smith, could not finish the run unfortunatly.

God, I love the conspiracy theories. ZOMG I didn't get any good drops. A.net must have secretly nerfed something.

For crying out loud. You had a string of bad luck. Deal with it. You probablly won't get a lot of smypathy here.

Well, the price of ecto has also dropped significantly (it's almost half the price it was two months ago when I, you know, bought my FoW armor for 1.7mil), so maybe a significant problem was detected, and for the time being the only way to fix the problem is to totally nerf ecto drops.

Though it sounds like some are still having luck.

Nope haven't noticed it.

It's a theory, although I have already read this somewhere else here, but it seems that if a certain area has a lot of people on it, let's say, mo/d invasion farming colossal swords, less likelly to have drops. I tend to believe that it could be true, since I got my sword while most people in the server were asleep (I'm assuming, there were 3 people in astralarium). I tried different farming spots, places that don't have many people, and the amount of golds is just too big, or might be a big coincidence. A 10 min run in the jade sea nets me at least 3 golds per run, not counting chests, meaning only the drops.

If this number of people accessing the area is true, it even makes sense justifying how to stop botting (or excusing them for not taking more drastic measures against people using them), but cripples farming in all ways. One thing is for sure, I hardly see gold coin drops, but whites are not so infrequent. There's also some rarity level in each area aparentely; in some areas, ordinary rares are gold itens, while other are salvageable gold runes. Some areas seems to have rare materials as rarity, while others have rare skin gold weapons.

I'm not sure if it's a string of bad/good luck, because at times it does seem to have some sort of pattern behind all that. Maybe we are being just too paranoid. I personally have not gone to uw since hm, so I cannot tell. But for all other areas I've been noticing this.
