Reckless Haste in Hard Mode

So my questions are - does it work? and if it not, should I continue using it?

In small and disorganised fights, Mr. Whispers has sole responsibility for tanking and damage, and in larger fights, he's still very important. So those are my priorities.

I'm just wondering how it compares to other anti-melee hexes and what my priorites ought to be.

I use Enfeebling Blood now, but I have problems when monks are around. Single target hexes are nice in addition to area hexes, so I considered Enfeeble or Price of Failure in addition to Reckless Haste, or Shadow of Fear instead of Reckless Haste (for an improved recharge), and I just want to know how they compare.

I run it on my SS necro (how predictable), and it works wonder even if it only affect 2 monsters.

Reckless Haste works in HM, just not by increasing the attack speed. All the foes in HM have an IAS of 33% so it really doesn't add speed to their attacks but it will have the chance for them to miss. And 33% is the max speed so there is no point to add to it.

So you might even want to try Price of Failure. It has a lower energy cost and does +damage everytime they miss, but it only targets one foe at a time. PoF costs 5 less energy, has the same casting time, and recharges 5 seconds faster.

Why bring it when all the mosters already attack 50% faster? imo the 52% chance to miss isnt that important, especially when weakness is so much more effective. Also, its 15 energy.

Bring Enfeebling Blood instead, MUCH more effective than Reckless Haste in HM.

^50% block for aegis, everyone brings it. not that important? go tell them.
And i dont mind paying 15 energy to block 50% of the attacks of a mob hitting for 100+ on every swing.
enfeebling blood works greaat too, I like bringing both.

Hitting every attack doesnt matter if theyre hitting me for about 10-20 every hit. the recharge is pretty long, and imo the battles end too quickly for it to have any justification.

Here is an example, Cast Enfeebling Blood on melee enemy, it hits you twice, each for 20 dmg, so you just took a total of 40 dmg. NOW Cast Reckless Haste on a melee foe, first swing miss. Second swing 100dmg (according to the above post). so now you took a total of 100 dmg. 40>100 so EB saved the day. Also, with reckless haste the 2 hits were swung faster since reckless haste increases attack speed by another 25% (dont know the IAS cap). Now i know this isnt the best example but i kept it simple.

Also, youre gonna have to wait 25 sec to re-apply Reckless Haste on another mob rather than waiting 5 seconds, (and EB is 5 less energy). And Enfeebling Blood can slightly affect casters too (weakness reduces attributes by 1)

All in all, i dont see the reason to carry Reckless Haste when Enfeebling Blood completely dominates it in every way.

Hard Mode mobs recharge all skills 33%-50% faster. Enfeebling Blood has no effect on bonus attack skill damage. Reckless Haste will still cause them to miss. I like to bring both, if I can, but I tend to drop Reckless if I have to choose.

I still find reckless effective in that it is offensive defense.

its good. 52% chance of missing is awesome. combine that with the fact that it can be maintained on a boss at curses 16 with price of failure, and you got a hell of a good combo. On double SS/LB weekend i farmed a whole bunch of SS by killing corsairs in arkjok ward (exiting from pogahn, kill along the way, then off acolyte of grenth and chichor) using SS+haste+PoF+Insidious parasite. You do NOT want to be hit by acolyte of grenth in HM.

Yeh, not to mention Reckless Haste works on Target Foe plus adjecant. Which means, u can full hex a unaggrod group if ur smart. Then use a corpse and cast Well of Darkness for another 50% miss chance (conditional only works on hexed targets). The percentages do not add, they multiply.

So Reckless Haste + Well of Darkness = 52* 50 ~ 75% chance to miss (on the whole group)

Now add Price of Failure, Spiteful Spirit (killer dmg even when miss), Insidious Parasite (only works on hits), Enfeeble and the inherent 50% attack rate to that...
And dont forget a mesmer with Backfire, Spirit of Failure and Empathy, the latter also triggers on misses.
