Personally I've never used the trade forum, but as you can always meet someone in international districts it doesn't matter which region your in. However timezones might be an issue.

They got people from all over the world in the forum selling section. If you prefer to trade with Europeans, then say so in your post.
The place where you live shouldn't be a problem though, unless the time difference is too much for you. Trades with people from other servers can be handled in the International district (if I remember correctly, in the list of districts in the game, scroll all the way to the bottom and you should have the option to move to International districts there - it doesn't change you away from Europe, it just takes you to a district where people from all over the world can meet with you).

Why not use the auction instead? It's much easier in my opinion.

It doesn't matter which server you use in the game. The guru buy/sell forums are used by everyone. As mentioned above, you just plan a meet in the International District of any town or outpost in a campaign you both own or at the Temple of Balthazar which anyone can access.
It does help to mention your GMT time in a post. This allows buyers and sellers to have an idea when you are on-line to complete transactions.
